It's a shame I have a three-day mid-week corporate brainwashing session in Milton Keynes this week, otherwise I'd be straight down of an Evening by train. Darn my capitalist overlords.

Well, I'm off for another week and a half as I'm using up my 2013/14 holidays, so if you can make it along, I'll be here 24/7

Last chance saloon fellas. At 10 o'clock, it's going on Gumtree.

Sorry, but I could really do with the dosh.

Now on Gumtree London.

Oh bugger, really didn't want to do this.

Needs must when the Devil (Halifax Building Society) drives.

I am genuinely surprised.

Not a single enquiry.

There weren't many Specialized on there either.

Lots of bikes dearer than mine too.

Funny place, Gumtree, no response for ages then you get loads and loads. I'd have thought a cheap, useable bike was a no brainer in London.

Me too Billy, the amount of the buggers I have to avoid in my lorry is quite astonishing.

Hundreds of 'em.

Can't you state if someone wants to pay by Paypal that you would ask they cover the costs, circa 4% I think? You'd get a quicker sale most likely.

I'd love to, but need pound notes in my hand this time.

If I wasn't averse to sending wads of cash through the post, I'd have done that by now! If Gumtree doesn't bite I'll be on the first reasonably priced train to Rainham next weekend.

If it's still here at the weekend Chris, you'll be more than welcome.

Looks like it will be.

Had a play with this today, and the front suspension doesn't seem to suspensh.

I can only think it's through lack of use.

Anyone know how to adjust these?

Posted

Could be a lockout. Look at the black plastic things on to of the fork blades. If they are adjustable, there could be a dial type of thing on one or both sides. Really cheapo versions of a similar fork only have springs inside them and don't adjust but that being what it is, I wouldn't think it would have the lo cost version on them.

These forks have two plastic turny type thigs on the top of the forks.

One seems to act as a locknut while the other seems to be the adjuster.

I don't want to turn the knurled type adjuster out too far in case bad things happen.

Nothing will happen. From memory I believe its clockwise to soften and anti to stiffen and lock out. When its at full it will stop turning. Just make sure your turning only the small adjuster on the top and not the lower nut holding everything in lol! 8)

If both turn one should be the lock out, the other will be the adjustable bit. Have a play with it, you'd have to be pretty ham fisted to knacker it up.

Ah right, thanks for that.

I'll keep playing with it.

I don't want anyone buying it until I know it's ok.

On the other hand, I think the bike just needs using to get it all working again properly.

I am happy to report, the front forks now suspensh as they should.

They were just stuck through lack of use. Today was the first chance I've had to have a butchers.

Took about 10/15 mins to free them off.

I've sprayed some grease over the chain and cogs and all seems well.

For sale again now

That's good as my service and insurance have just ganged up on me and taken it in turns to bum-rape my bank account.

Know the feeling chap.

Post Christmas should have been an easier time for Mrs T and myself.

Was it buggery.

Had to pay the telly tax as well as everything else.

Council tax starts next month.

What fun.

Aye, ta very much Tetley good sir, 'twas the height of pleasure.

I probably shouldn't, but I'm going to do a collection thread as there will be shite train content galore.
