25v6turbo Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Well after looking long and hard i,ve finally bought a 3.5 Vel satis, brave and stupid at the same time!I,ve always fancied one but only the 3.5 petrol version and initiale which this is.Its a lovely car and in cracking condition with 67k on it,lots of toys that actually all seem to work and a nice punch with 245BHP to hand, had a few bits done at work inc alloys refurbed, full service etc etc will see how it goes and when i get bored no doubt will sell it,but must admit its a very nice example and is sure to turn heads, mostly for the wrong reasons.... Luckythirteen, Jim Bergerac, Cavcraft and 7 others 10
Cavcraft Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 R19UKE @Luke #WWIPGW* You are living the dream, I bet loads of us would love one but haven't got the knackers to actually buy one. Except Luke who has every other RHD example but yours. *When Will It Properly Go Wrong.

25v6turbo Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Sure am,and the fact i owe 2 V6 Safranes aswell, its a VERY big ticking time bomb?To be fair the Safranes are great, the Vel satis needs to prove itself, but all is good at the moment, just a few things i,am doing to it at the moment, but everything seems good, time will tell.I know Luke and have told him about it,i thought go for the best one and hope it doesn,t go wrong.
chaseracer Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 So... ...is this basically a 350Z motor... ...in a FWD Reno...? You, sir, have won Autoshite.
dugong Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Good sturdy cars these, can take a lot of abuse and just keep going* BUY FRENCH BUY QUALITY* Cavcraft 1
dugong Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 So... ...is this basically a 350Z motor... ...in a FWD Reno...? You, sir, have won Autoshite. IIRC the 3.5 Renault lump is the ES, their own design. 350Zs used whatever VQ [Nissan] variant of their series that was current at the time.

Pillock Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It'll be fine as long as you don't look at it funny, and it doesn't rain.

hairnet Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 ive seen a grey 02 plate one (no idea what engine) on my round that ive done for the last few days it hasnt moved tho hopefully its not borked as it looked roadworthy cant pic it as where it was parked theres builders working on the house and it might be theirs
Ratdat Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I had a 3.0l DCI Initiale and it was glorious. Went well, was impossibly economical for such a mammoth car, quiet, comfy and had a mega stereo. Trouble was ever present though and 'limp mode' visited regularly. I still totally enjoyed it while it lasted though.
cort16 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I spoke to l9uke about these a while back and the 3.5 pez is defo the least likely to grenade. I'd love one.
25v6turbo Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 The 3.5 is a great engine and the box is strong aswell,i,ve nearly sorted all the bits i needed to,which wasn,t alot. But if i keep this one of my Safranes need to go and thats hard for me...I might sell the Vel satis when its done and the V5 comes but,if so it would be another money lose.It is a tool though and must admit its well sorted and in lovely nick.I just can,t bare to part with the V6 Safrane......
