vulgalour Posted January 18, 2022 Author Posted January 18, 2022 Remember the Hydrasag series? The Comité Champagne put an IP claim in against one of them and Redbubble upheld it so you can no longer get it in beige. Fuxake. As far as I was aware until today, using the word 'champagne' to describe a colour, when the original colour is 'champagne beige' was allowed. But apparently not. And people wonder why I don't bother with the car stuff so much. Anyway, get hold of new Citroen stuff before, I dunno, Birds Eye Potato Waffles puts in a claim against them for some reason. vulgalour Posted September 10, 2022 Author Posted September 10, 2022 It's been a very long time since I did any automotive commissions. I'm ready to do some more. Doing a limited run of Negative Space style pieces. Traditional or Digital (all examples shown here are Traditional) on white or coloured background. White normally works best. Any vehicle considered. Worldwide postage available, but cost will depend on where you are and whether or not you want the piece insured. Digital I can send you files to download in both original size and online-reposting friendly format. You'll get an online-reposting friendly format with Traditional too so you don't have to try and get a photo or a scan of it yourself. £50 GBP each (plus any P&P cost if Traditional) Completed at A4 (approx. 210mm x 297mm) in Traditional and Digital. Drop me a private message here to get yours. I'll be doing these until I'm not. Ford Escort Mexico Renault Estafette Mercedes Benz CLK Austin Allegro (on green paper, I can do coloured backgrounds but white works better. Traditional media has a more limited selection of colours than Digital if you do want a colour) Talbot Tagora chodweaver, BlankFrank, Zelandeth and 6 others 9
Popsicle Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Wow, never noticed this thread before, my art prowess is limited to matchstick men, some serious talent on show here. This list of miserable companies that you are not allowed to draw, is that just for re-sale purposes or does it include commissions? vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted September 10, 2022 Author Posted September 10, 2022 As far as I can work out, it's only a problem for prints. Original commissions don't seem to incur the same wrath so anything goes on that front. Thanks for the compliment too Popsicle 1

Email some pics over and let you do the magic?
vulgalour Posted September 10, 2022 Author Posted September 10, 2022 Pretty much. At least one picture (three quarter view works best to sell the illusion, but isn't mandatory) of the vehicle in question is needed for reference. Worth noting as well that commissions cover the artwork but not the reproduction rights. That means you can't take the artwork and upload it to Redbubble or similar to make money off prints of it at the price these are at. If you're making a one-off non-profit print for yourself, like putting it on a tee-shirt for a show or something, that's fine, just a bit of common sense really on that front. Reposting the artwork online isn't an issue either, I'll provide a version that's ideal for that whether you go for Traditional or Digital. Best thing to do is drop me a private message on here and I can go through the details in full. Happy to answer any questions about the process etc. I do my best to keep it as simple as possible. Payment by Paypal is my preference too, keeps everyone safe and able to get their money back in the unlikely event something goes amiss and gives a solid record of what was paid for. I can do alternatives, but Paypal is easiest and what I've used for every commission for several years now. Popsicle 1

vulgalour Posted April 6, 2023 Author Posted April 6, 2023 This one has a bit of a story behind it. I found a Lanchester being broken, it had some really random bits I needed for our car. Trouble was, it was in frigging Bristol and the seller wouldn't post anything so I put a shout out online and, of all people, Reuben (who you may have seen working alongside Chris Pollitt on some Youtube videos) popped up and offered to help since he was fairly local to the parts. Queue some back and forth and eventually the parts got to me. I offered some artwork in return which he accepted, suggesting the Rover 800 he and Chris had pulled out of a bush. It's completed in ink and watercolour pencils and it felt really nice to go back and do some traditional automotive work since I haven't been able to for quite some time. vulgalour Posted April 6, 2023 Author Posted April 6, 2023 A commission from last year is this Negative Space piece that I did for @Popsicle of a Vauxhall Astra Vectra estate. Enjoyed working on this one too, quite challenging to work out how much you can get away with omitting on cars of this age without losing their identity. vulgalour Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 I've been operating without a website for years, which is insane for an online business like mine. Anyway, I have a website now. https://www.angyl.co.uk/ I was super original with the domain name and just opted to go the Squarespace route since it's convenient. Anything that allows me to reduce busy work and have a central hub is good. I'm still figuring out exactly what I want on there so as things stand consider it all placeholders until I get the hang of it, I'll be tinkering more with it over time. If you're curious on cost, Squarespace is £24 pcm (I went with the business plan since I want to do commerce integration, personal is cheaper), and the domain is £16 pa, plus VAT. I'm hoping having the website will generate a bit extra revenue which will at least cover the cost of it. Oh and yes, commissions are open once again. My books are totally empty as of yesterday as several items wrapped up all together. I should be able to hit Christmas deadlines on anything ordered this month too, so if you're looking for a gift now is a good time to do that *and* you can actually look at the site for an easy overview of what's on offer. vulgalour Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 I am learning things and now have a little RSS button for the blog section so if you want to keep up to date with art goings on, you can do that. https://www.angyl.co.uk/ Definitely going to try and keep the site as the main point of updates etc. so I have a little central hub for everything that's going on. It's been a long time since I maintained a website and I'd forgotten how nice it is just to have your own little space carved out without the pressure of algorithms and stuff. I'd also like to do something more with my Patreon to get some people in on there. After I've moved house things like that are going to have to start working a bit harder if I'm to stand a chance of affording everything to keep the content going out at the current pace. I'm considering maybe doing a monthly art piece on Patreon, content of which is decided by patrons, perhaps raffling off the original artwork or something... I'm not decided yet, if there's something like that you'd like and would support do let me know.

vulgalour Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 I actually had some folks request it specifically otherwise I wouldn't have realised it was still a thing people did.
vulgalour Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 I'm really trying to get this Patreon thing off the ground, you can find that here: https://www.patreon.com/NoExpenseSpent It's £3 a month. Youtube thus far hasn't paid me a penny and the channel growth has been slow but steady. Until you hit 1000 subscribers you don't earn anything, and even then it's not a lot. It certainly takes a while before Youtube income covers the time and materials put into content. Therefore, I've opted to do the Patreon thing, which I'm also currently earning nothing from. I really hope that changes soon. Patrons will get access to the same videos I put on Youtube but at least a week early and without ads. They'll also get access to whatever new design is going in the print shop before anyone else does, as well as voting on what the new designs will be. My goal is to release one automotive design a month, and for the people actually paying money to be the ones directing the subject matter. Anything I do in traditional media will also be available to Patrons first before I make it publicly available. Commissions are also OPEN again and I'd really welcome the work. Since the house move I'm really pushing to earn more and it's hard to do. I realistically need to double my income and I'm struggling to find the best way to do it due to a lack of knowledge. I've got a couple of local leads to chase up, and a back-up plan of applying for a part-time job to help out but there's only so many hours in a day and as passionate as I am about my job, I do have to face the reality that I might have to give it up if things don't improve drastically this year. vulgalour Posted April 26, 2024 Author Posted April 26, 2024 I have a significant price rise coming soon. If you want to get a commission or original at the current prices do it now, they won't be this price for long. Having spoken to curators and artists today I've learned my prices are far below industry standard and have been advised to raise them accordingly. This is people who have been in the industry longer than me, have experience promoting their own work and the work of others, and have assessed my original work in person today. This will hopefully give me the time to create better work, to take on technical training, to promote my work better and, eventually, have a much better standard of living due to a healthier wage. If you want things at the current price, book/buy NOW. I'm not keeping the current prices for long. worldofceri 1
vulgalour Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 That's the new prices. It's a pretty hefty jump but that's what happens when you don't realise you've been undercharging for a few years. This price reflects the industry standard for the quality of my work, my professional education level, and the cost to produce the work and all the other associated small business stuff. After all, my product needs to pay not only my wage but all the other expenses associated with running a small business. vulgalour Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 Recently, I've started work on a new portfolio. A local art gallery expressed interest in my work and suggested I do a presentation and while I do have enough work to put one together, I wanted to make something new and specific. With the help of the good folks over on Mastodon I've done just that and am building a little portfolio of cars (and other modes of transport) used by Mums. We kick off, perhaps somewhat predictably, with an Austin Mini City. It's used now, and Mum has given it some nicer wheel trims probably from a Mayfair, and some head restraints for safety. Originals and prints of these portfolio pieces won't be available until after I've made my submission to the gallery. I hope the project is accepted once I've done it, there's a lot of work ahead of me to get enough new pieces together. richardmorris, LightBulbFun, RayMK and 3 others 6
