Asimo Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 That is a bummer, sympathies. Someone on a phone or an Audi or both of these?
dugong Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Glad to hear WIFE_ and DAUGHTER_JUNKMAN escaped unscathed. Should I bring the Charade back and lob thee on the insurance? Partridge and Vince70 2
NorfolkNWeigh Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Good on you. Spurious injury claims and ridiculous charges for hire cars (like three times the high street rate) are why premiums keep rocketing up. Insurance companies are bent as hell. Very sad news about the car though. Bloody idiots, ruining our heritage.Sad to see a rarity damaged and glad family are ok, but if you get to keep the salvage after being paid out this effectively becomes a free car-Win ! I'm in a similar situation,in that my work car was rear ended on Sunday ,unfortunately not drivable. I had no hesitation in getting a dodgy claims management company involved. For one thing no car means no money which in turn means no food,no mortgage etc, etc. if the third party's insurance co. supplied a reasonably priced hire car it would be a Fiesta or some such, Shysters Claims Ltd just dropped a Merc off that's insured and licensed for me to go to work this afternoon. Also these sharks never back down and won't just give up and roll over if it gets too hard, the longer it takes and the more people they have working on a case, the more money they make. So,sorry I might owe you all 1p each on your renewals next year, although insurance seems to have got more reasonable in the last year, both my PH and traders policies went down this year and my youngest who's 17 tomorrow is paying less on the same car than her sister did at 17 three years ago.
hairnet Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 1. Don't let them take the car away for assessment. Insist they do it at your house and at your convenience. this if they try and say it has to be lifted for them to look - use someone else......
Jim Bell Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Poor little bugger. Getting it up the arse is a grim way to go out. ShiteRider and Luckythirteen 2
Sigmund Fraud Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 How frustrating to have your pride* and joy* destroyed like that... At least nobody was hurt. An R8 is the way forward, I expect they'll be the next big thing on here ! Just make sure you get an enormous, giffer-tastic "KEEP YOUR DISTANCE" sticker for the back window !
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Right. The insurance estimate is low enough to do a cash settlement with the 3P.This means, we will withdraw the claim, and the car will live! Consequently, I urge everyone to look for a rear bumper for it, PLEASE! Save a C10 Colt! mat_the_cat, 500tops, junkyarddog and 11 others 14
Station Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 There's a Proton MPi in the local scrappy. It is a saloon.Might* work. oman5 1
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 No it won't The first thing Proton changed was the bumpers - and for good reason.
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 There is this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251124489758 But postage would be in the €100 region. Any shiters off to Hamburg in the near future?
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Junkman, contact garbaldy on here as he bought mine with rear end damage and repaired it so he may have some spares contacts. Done. Thanks!
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Thank you all so much for all the morale support! We really love this car and I would have been heartbroken to bridge it. My local garage, which is Arnold, one of the soundest geezers I have ever had the privilege to meet, agreed to fix the rear panel for 100 quid. Looks like he likes the car, too. Well, in fact, it might be a welcome change for him that I don't pester him with either P6 woes, or the bloody Granada injection. In any case, it's now all down to locating a rear bumper. I contacted Garbaldy (my thanks go to Vantman), who selflessly agreed to look around for it, but any assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Again, thank you all so much for your support! This is the bestest forum of EVAH! Do you read me, Breadvan72? 500tops, tooSavvy, eddyramrod and 1 other 4
forddeliveryboy Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I was quite upset at the potential demise of this lovely old Colt, but very pleased to hear the damage ain't so terminal. Any pics? I'll ask those who could know of an old geezer with one of these rotting away in a damp garage. Fingers crossed for a speedy return to the road. Perhaps if nothing turns up then you could start an Autoshite collection thread, travelling to Japan to collect a bumper. I'm sure Head Office would be so impressed with your 献身(Kenshin), they would give you a new old stock bumper or send their newest recruit into Fukushima province to an abandoned scrapyard to procure a 'new' part. Get the media involved and they'd no doubt pay your airfare, for an 'exclusive' interview with 'forgotten old car nutter'. Here are the details of how to reach the Mitsubishi company, eddyramrod, Vince70, Angrydicky and 2 others 5
philibusmo Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hmm, I'm going to be in Gdansk in mid October. I was planning on flying out but if I can sell the Avantime before the end of this month, I do quite fancy driving through Europe and stopping off in a few places along the way. I would be able to come back via Hamburg if this turns out to be a workable option and pick up the above bumper. I'll let you know if this pans out. EDIT: Or I suppose I could always fly out there, spend my few days in Gdansk, then buy a Fiat 126, Daewoo Tico, Velorex or what ever other completely unsuitable long distance chod is available, then drive that back via Hamburg, picking up the bumper along the way. eddyramrod, cms206 and Junkman 3
Junkman Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 I'm overwhelmed. Gentlemen, I'm convinced a rear bumper will turn up in due courseone way or the other. The Mitsubishite will live on, and in the end, that's all that counts. eddyramrod 1
brickwall Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I'm going to the scrappers the day. He has loads of old stuff and I'll check - You never know. Junkman and eddyramrod 2

greengartside Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I seriously wish this Colt was still here now - sadly been squashed a long time ago. I will keep an eye out for you if any turn up this end of the country. Junkman 1
