I thought I'd start 2014 with a positive moment so have already fixed* the Volvo of one of those little issues.

 

The car was down on power last week an I soon traced the problem to a failure of the previous patch to the hose from the air intake box to the injector gubbins.

 

So I used half the old patch as a splint

 

and then wrapped it up with aluminium tape

 

job jobbed, by the old 'give it a good shake' test this seems to have worked.

 

I now leave this thread open for other people to show quick sub 10 minute fixes that anybody can get a bit of inspiration from.

Borrowed an engine lift to remove an engine from a Polo only to find there was a bit missing. I improvised with an axle stand and 3 exhausr clamps and pulled the engine out...

Got one or two  on the Farina - GR8 for introducing copious amounts of Dinitrol and plugging with blanking grommet.   Screen leak on T25 made a small rust hole in floor which I also made into  a neat circle, zinc primed, painted and grommeted.  Haven't tried it on chassis legs tho!

It was only on my Vectra I did this I must add, my Corsa has been welded properly and my Astra hasn't seen a winter since 2007!

Fitted the Xantia dog guard with bits of old seatbelt, rubber bands and washers. Couldn't find a proper kit anywhere. Will get some pics later.

Had to smear some vaseline round the hole today on the brake servo air take-off cos of a duff rubber letting air in and upsetting running.
