Fellow Autoshiteists, I give you Bathroom Blue (AKA Sankey Blue after the bathroom furniture suppliers, officially known as Ford Wedgewood Blue):

1984 was Clove Brown

This may well be what Rover were aiming for when they came up with Suspicious Bloodstain Red

Depending on the light, it could look like either of the above!

Nice shade of blue that! :)

Hmmm Sankey Blue.... On the subject of coloured bathroom suites, if I ever become a homeowner again then I want to replace the sensible white suite with a coloured one. :-D

Eddy, your old car pics crop up on threads, but i recon they would make a great read all on their own!

Have I not done that already?  I thought I had, how remiss of me.  I don't have photos of everything (sadly) but I do have most, going back to about 1977 or so.

Kind of you to say that, anyway.

Rover did a nice line in metallic beige (sorry, Platinum Silver):

I have always liked burnt orange colours, I wanted a CR-V painted so...

But they're not that common, they stopped the colour not long after launch.  Did get to own the 'tangerine dream' (so called by my friends) though, Sunburst Orange I think it was called, looked fantastic when polished up:

But ultimately, white (or off-white) is the right colour for more or less any car.

Whoever bought this colour new, let alone choosing that kind of car, needed shot.

I came across a Vel Satis in this hideous non metallic pastel green for the first time ever last month on auto trader. To top it off it has no leather and it was a 3.5..... I want it!

I've never understood the hate for beige and brown cars, I quite like them!

It might be something to do with the fact that I love seeing old cars in period shades, so Allegros and Marinas in "Tangerine" Orange, Pageant Blue and Limeflower and Itals and Maestros in Champagne Beige and Clove Brown.

I read something recently where it said that in the 1980's the only people who bought new beige cars were retired folk and it was easy to keep your distance from old codgers on the roads by keeping an eye out for hearing aid beige Maestros.

AD, I do see what you mean, and in many ways I agree, it is lovely to see old cars in the colours they wore new.  I just don't like the brown spectrum (and the grey one come to that) in exactly the same way I don't like mushrooms or alcohol.  Other people may love them, just... not me.  As long as I can get something that satisfies me more (such as a red car, a cheeseburger or a Pepsi) that's fine, I'll be happy.

I have serious wantage for this brown beauty, if it supped from the black pump I would probably have already succumbed . As it is I'm trying to convince myself that a pez 350 could break 30 mpg, it's also 25% cheaper than an equivalent dizzler.......mmmmmmm
