Hi All

My Grandad bought & restored a unique Citroen 2CV Over the last 20years, and today was the day it was sold & sent off to Strasbourg in France for the 2CV Club to look after.

We waited for them to arrive, expecting a big Citroen Low Loader, or perhaps a Citroen Crossdresser 4x4.... Nope! Dacia Powered!

Enjoy the steel wheels, grey bumper & lots of other no frills!

Sucessfully got the 2cv on the trailer, strapped it down & sent it on its way to Froggy land..!

Oh wow. It's the Major's Slough-built IIRC! Shame it's leaving the country but at least it'll be in good hands. Haven't seen that car since 2005.

is that a brick stopping the Dacia from rolling down hill?

and more pics of the 2cv please

I'm afraid I don't remember that much about the car other than it was custom built at Citroen's Slough factory in the 1950s for a Major Wanliss.

Seems odd that someone from France came over to get a 2CV from En-ger-land. Its normally the other way round as there must be an abundance of them over there compared to here. I assume because of the uniqueness of this car its emigrated then?

The French go a bit ga-ga about RHD 2CVs. Regardless of where you live, a Slough-built 2CV is on the must-have list of many 2CVers. This is also why quite a few Bijoux have left our shores.

Hi Guys, It was a one off built for a Major after the war, he wrote to a number of car companies asking to build a car which was taller so he could sit in comfort after his injuries sustained in the war. Citroen was the only company who was happy to make a car which was taller for him. Yes it has a higher roofline, bigger window & is a slough build, No 2 off the line I understand.

Some Pics more pics, including my Grandad

At first, you don't even realise the roofline has been raised by a considerable margin.  Is the grab handle on the top of the driver's seat original too?  Dacia Shatchback edition, how very continental.

That 2CV was probably the 'Holy Grail' to a lot of French collectors to be honest. Nice shots :)
