Rubber band Riot....... a Dutch moment.

A clearing the decks event. So, on offer here first 'cause it just is.

A 1974 Daf 66 saloon in blue (looks a bit darker than BL's pageant blue).

Beige interior, back seat upright is a bit tatty (sun damage), carpet is shite but a replacement will be provided.

Powered by the Renner engine (water cooled Clion??) and driven forwards and backwards by a rubber band. Hasn't got an astronomical mileage on it but I can't recall the exact figure.

Runs with an external supply, just needs a new section of fuel hose (provided), Could do with a basic service (bits provided) and an adjustment of the tappets once an oil change is done. The tyres are round and hold air.

Needs a bit of a tidy and a couple of CV gaitors (cheap and available). Couple of rust blebs here and there and has a scratch or two.

So not that much for an MOT to be obtained. Underneath seems solid but I haven't/can't scrambled underneath. New exhaust fitted. Electrical bits function.

Very comfy and a decent sized interior. Lotsa fun and is oddly endearing, or just plain odd.

Will be tax exempt under the new plans (if they get their arse into gear).

V5C present, no tax or MOT.

Price: £325 (a small amount of wiggle room is allowed for Shiter's). This is just what it owes me.

Is caged in Essex, not a million miles from Colchester. Easypeasy project with built in Dutch weirdness.

You know you want to. Might have a piccie on here somewhere.

If anyone on here has not owned one of these before I thoroughly recommend it. They are a total hoot to drive. Mine was the air cooled engine but I bet the driving experience is just the same as its rubberband-tastic

Funnily enough, I was chatting with someone at work the other day about DAF/Volvo 66s, what a laugh they are to drive, and how I'd like to own one at some point. I'm in Essex, too :)

Want Level 428 reached and climbing!  I can't have it, sadly, because my time:money:car ratios are all wrong.

I spotted a coupe at a classic car bash in Clacton a short while back, along with a saloon!

It's meant to be, it really is. Don't fight it.

There is also a vast supply of parts and knowledge about all things Daf in Essex.

The rear bumper is now secured. For goodness sake, someone buy her before my resolve weakens.

I was debating the possibility of trying to get some Rover 45 seats to fit. They seem to fit everything else.

Oh, forgot. She could do with some door seals. They're easy to get hold of.

If I could find some way of easily/cheaply getting it to my workplace in West Thurrock or to my home in Southend, It would make a fun winter project :)

I know some folk that could do the transporting thing. They are Essex based.

Is it just me or does Dutch sound really, really, really unintelligible.

It does, which is why hardly anyone outside the Netherlands and Belgium speaks it and most Dutch people under 40 speak perfect English.

Pawnote: going to ask my manager over the weekend if there is any possibility of storing old cars at work. There's a good chance that there will be ;)

I'm sure I can fit in moving it some time in the next two weeks, if you get stuck.

Sorry, meant over to you Mr. SS, not WWW. My bad. I'm so embarrassed now, I really am*

The car is parked 'off road', is quite safe and secure and won't be in any way put off by having to wait a little while before finding a new hopefully Essex based life. Plus if it stays in Essex it gets to access the wonderful people of Essex Daf who can offer tea, advice, support and some bits if needed, plus lots of tea to the new owner. Huge amounts of tea. Really, really copious amounts of tea.

Get it bought Shep! I love this and hope it ends up in Southend. HJ is a local reg too, is the Cliffsea Car Sales sticker in the back window for the Hainault or Leigh on Sea branch do you remember Ken?

I've only lived in the area for eight years, so I don't remember the garage in question, which I think closed down/relocated long before I was made aware of its existence. It would be quite fun to take the car to the Hainault branch, in order to see if anyone remembers being involved with it, though :)

I like tea :)

Not sure as to the garage location details, will check when I'm over there tomorrow. Wanna pop over? You can haz tea. I can bring V5C which kind of rhymes with tea.

I'd gladly come over, but I'm working 12-hour nights until next Friday. However, I do have a fortnight off after this, one weekend of which will be spent in the Netherlands, oddly enough.

You could then purchase a set of door seals without having to pay for p&p. Sorted.  It truly is meant to be.

Storage won't be an issue either since it'll easily fit in the back of Shepwagon One or Two.
