1973 Reliant Rebel Pickup

ok decided to sell the orange reliant rebel pick up as dont think ill get round to getting it back on the road and could do with the money towards my grey one so this is up for sale.

reason for sale is i only bought it for the wheels engine and gearbox prop etc....

1973 reliant pick up, its registered as a van light commercial,

i do have the log book but i have just sent it of to get it in my name.

no mot or tax

this is a project

its a good rolling chassis with good brakes which are recently new by previous owner and adjustable front coils which are also recently new so i was told by him. the shell is abit rippley down the sides and does have bog in it. chassis is mint.

interior needs seats fitting they are out of a mini, could do with carpets as it rains in and is wet but bonus the shell is fibreglass and wont rust.

it needs an engine and gearbox then all the other little bits and pieces like wiring clutch rod etc prop radiator, exhaust.. i do have 2 morris minor engines and a gearbox that i will sell with car. i am unsure of the condition but was told 1 of them ran fine with the gearbox, but it needs a clutch. and a few other things before it can run, it needs engine gearbox mounts radiator coil dizzy cap plugs ht lead, exhaust, prop and a few other things.

what ever engine goes in next it will need work for them to go in, wouldnt be a case of dropping it in than thats it.

it did have the engine and gearbox that is in my grey 1 previous which is a morris minor 1098 with ford type 9 gearbox, so it has had abit of the bulk head cut out on both sides for them to go in,

with it been fibreglass it has 1 or 2 cracks here and there but nothing major.

paint has started to flake in places.

the chassis is better on this than my grey 1, and if it wasnt for it being rippley the shell would be better as on my grey 1 the paint has cracked all over,

the back is not the best as rear bumper is missing and i think someone has tried to smooth it

but it still looks presentable

wheels do not come with the car, will have a set of steel wheels on it.

£500 with the 2 engines and gearbox no offers

£400 with out the 2 engine and gearbox. no offers

comes with interesting reg 728l they do a bmw 728i could be worth something and it is transferable

you are best to come and view

if i had more garage space then with no hesitation i would keep both of these, because they are starting to go up in price. and i would put a 1300 x flow in the pick up,

my grey one is not for sale

Good luck finding it a new home, Imagine the lack of a Rebel gearbox will put some buyers off. 850 Reliant engines are common enough but rebel gearboxes (in either early or late variety's) are much harder to get hold of. Perhaps the way to go would be for a modernish engine to be dropped in with a 5 speed box. I quite like the idea of a Isuzu 1.5 / 1.7 diesel engined rebel.

If anyone fancied converting this back into a van instead of a pickup I think I've got most of the bits to do it in stock.... Including a rear door, c-pillars, side panels etc

Ace little project, seems sensibly priced and I can even picture how I'd finish off the cab with wrap-around side windows and whatnot.... but I already have two projects so it's a no from me.  Best of luck finding a buyer though, it's a great looking little thing.

thing is with the moggy engines is the brakes dont need upgrading, if you got this with the engines and gearbox for £500 then id say another £500 on it probs not even that to get it up and running and on the road, and you have a cheap classic car, stick a electronic ignition etc then this could be a real good daily, and i think you could probs make a few bob on it to
