purplebargeken Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Just think of it this way. If we, as autoshite persons used the pineapple on the roof as a means of identification and acknowledgement of each other! It would be so much cooler than the 'flash and wave' brigade. I think I may have stumbled on something potentially great here* drum 1
Squire_Dawson Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I don't believe there is an Autoshite 'scene', and even if there was I still wouldn't believe it. Perhaps the only recognisable symbol of a committed Autoshiter would be an old AA grille badge, proudly displayed purely out of necessity, rather than some dubious 'look at me I'm one of the gang' reason. And that would by no means be universal. Some people prefer the RAC. eddyramrod and brickwall 2
vulgalour Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I'd never belong to any sort of club that would want me as a member... or some other similarly witty remark made by a famous person. tooSavvy and aldo135 2
M'coli Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I'm starting to think it never happened myself now. How about a hay bale? Wrong car. I worked on a beef and sheep farm in the early 90s. I bumped into my boss at the Scottish car show in the SECC who told me he'd just been asked to leave the Porsche stand after asking about getting raised suspension on the 911 as the rear spoiler was just the ideal carrier for a couple of bales of hay to take out to the heifers... :D fotorabia and drum 2
rml2345 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Would an Autoshite "Scene" identifier not be cable ties holding some part of the trim/bodywork together? Hard to spot though. aldo135 1
morris_ital_lover Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Would an Autoshite "Scene" identifier not be cable ties holding some part of the trim/bodywork together? Hard to spot though. I think an autoshite identifier would be a car that is so mindblowingly shit that the automotive world hoped that it would pass into extinction but that through blood, sweat, toil and swearing it has been kept alive by a valiant shiter for future generations to enjoy*. chaseracer, laser wheels, Squire_Dawson and 3 others 6

brickwall Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I don't believe Autoshiters crave a et scene. It's more of an ad-hoc sorta thing and sometimes it's simply personal - cheaper motoring or a fondness for a car. Some of the best Autoshiters I've seen have been the old lady or spinster who lives at the end of the street who drives an immaculate Metro or Polo from the days of the dinosaurs. chaseracer, mercrocker, eddyramrod and 3 others 6

chaseracer Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Autoshite: driving down the cost of housing in your area. Believe me, I do my best. The Blingo remains unrepaired - apart from a new side repeater, a large patch of primer and a witty* cartoon figure saying 'oops!' - after losing a battle with a car park pillar. But the number of people here in Audi/BMW/Volvo/Honda land who have commented positively on the W124 makes me worry that I'm letting the side down...
purplebargeken Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 That bale of hay on the Beetle must be the heaviest bale of hay in history. Look at what it's doing to the suspension on that poor car. Such a shame. aldo135 and Squire_Dawson 2
mercrocker Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I like the fact that Autoshite is a virtual place. The last thing I want to be in is a "scene". However, it would be very amusing to start the pineapple thing and see how many twats copy it... purplebargeken and barefoot 2
panhard65 Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 It seems that it isn't only VW's that have a pineapple thing going on. A lot of these ex army R2087's have pineapples on the door. Junkman, purplebargeken, vulgalour and 1 other 4

purplebargeken Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Odd. When I searched for pineapple stickers on ebay, the related search came up with 'Skoda Octavia RS'. I never knew they were made of pineapples.
overrun Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Odd. When I searched for pineapple stickers on ebay, the related search came up with 'Skoda Octavia RS'. I never knew they were made of pineapples. VW Fox parcel shelves are made from pineapples. I don't care for either.

Such a shame.I don't understand the idea of purposefully making your car look knackered ?? it's like those who spend big £££'s on new jeans that are ripped & faded - I throw trousers out, not buy them when they get to that state Squire_Dawson and eddyramrod 2
