Set the wheels in motion, become the best, be THE TRANSPORT TYCOON

Before this goes off to the charity shop, would any Autoshiter like it for the cost of postage and packing?

It's a simply fantastic 1990s PC game, the basis of which is explained below. As GR9 as it is, unfortunately my days of getting any time whatsoever to play computer are long over and I haven't touched it for years - so it might as well go to somebody who can get some enjoyment out of it.

If anyone is indeed interested in setting the wheels in motion, in becoming the best, in being THE TRANSPORT TYCOON, then just drop me a PM.

Think that one will fester on the oxfam shelf for a good while, collecting dust as people walk past on the way to the the Phil Collins and Thompson Twins knackered vinyl.

Transport Tycoon actually lives on to this day, as OpenTTD.  If you like buses, trains, planes or ships, it's worth investing 30 mins investigating it, and it's free.  Chris Sawyer (it's creator) is working on a new version for tablets.

If only all those people who spent so long queuing up for GTA5 had realised!

TT is indeed one of the most addictive games ever. I used to like buidling massive railway networks and then fine tuning them.

I tell you one game that had lots of potential but was actually shit - Car Tycoon. Running car factories and dealerships. The game was really badly made though.

I had ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON and it was WELL GOOD.

'fun' fact: everyone remembers where they were when they heard about the 9/11 attacks - I was playing Rollercoaster Tycoon.

By all accounts Chris Sawyer isn't a fan of OpenTTD. I can't imagine why, I'd be thrilled if I'd made a game so good people were still playing and tinkering with it nearly two decades later. It's not like he's short of money after the whole Rollercoaster Tycoon thing.

I don't remember what I was doing when 9/11 happened.  Also, I didn't have a fancy Amiga or a Spectrum, I had a beige Commodore 64 and a bajillion cassette tape games.

I was in a pub. Story of my life, really.

I may have to get my Amiga 500 down from the loft. Before I was poor and crap, I had a flat with an 'old shit gaming corner' which included my Amiga 500, a mk1 MegaDrive, an Atari Jaguar, and a supergun \ JAMMA boards. Unfortunately the Jaguar got robbed and my JAMMA boards sold for next to fuck all on eBay. Aaaargh.

There's some decent emulators on the net that you should think of downloading before taking your loft apart.

I remember (vaguely) a game I used to play on my Spectrum years ago which involved being a courier/van driver delivering parcels all over the UK. I think you bid/took jobs on similar to that shipping wars programme on sky. The graphics were truly awful but I loved it. Anyone remember the correct name of it or even played it as well?

Oh, Wilko, if no-one wants the game, could you post the manual to the gentleman who left me my first ever negative feedback on Yahoo Auctions because I forgot to include the manual when I sold him my copy in 2000?

His address is

I predict Oman5 will be far too busy to post on here for at least the next nine months.

Slight thread deviation, but when 9/11 happened i was changing a starter motor on a datsun stanza as a spotty yoof at college.

I did miss the millenium new year because i was playing Colin McRae rally on the PS1 though.
