vehicle number plate problems

When we bought our scenic the number plate wasn't recognised on their database so had to be entered manually. I have today tried to order some parts and the notetaker factors rang back and said the number plate cannot be found or is in registered. I have checked the mot history online and it had a private plate on early in its life and we also have a dvla notice in the paperwork for the registration that's in the car but no make or model. I'm wondering if anyone here knows of this happening before or is there anyway I can so more checks on its history. Thanks in advance

How much earlier in the car's life did it have the private plate? If it was a matter of weeks ago, then the DVLA may not have logged the change yet, as they do like to take their time on things...

We have owned the car for a month and I think it had this plate what's on it now for a couple of years

Just tried that cort. Thanks. It won't let me do it on my phone though.

My Vectra used to do this, also started life with a private plate. Doesn't mean anything at all, as long as the dvla have it correct it just means the database used by insurance companies and motor factors to look up your car details isn't updated. You'll probably find, like I did, that if you type the original private plate in it works fine.

Their database is generated off new car registrations, they don't have access to the dvla live system so there's no notification when you change a registration mark.

I'll try that with the motor factors. Not trying it with insurance though!!
