This mostly applies to those going to SHITEFEST 2013 but there if there I no interest there then it is also for sale.

Available for a swap or sale is my Vauxhall Frontera Sport 2.0 petrol.

 

The ideal for me would be a swap at Shitefest so that I may drive back in something different as the Frontera is not a car I have gelled with. I am willing to consider almost anything with the tax and MOT to get me back, just not a Nissan Bluebird.

Alternatively, it is available at Shitefest for the negotiable sum of £500 and after if unsold then.

 

If a swap or sale is agreed at Shitefest I would still very much like to use it in the OVROAD mongfest as this is the sole purpose for which I bought the car and would mean that change of ownership and insurance would occur on the Sunday.

Now that the dull bits are over and done with, here is the car:

 

 

It’s a 1995 Vauxhall Frontera Sport with the 2.0 8v petrol engine from a Carlton. It has Tax until December and MOT until January.

 

It runs and drives well, the brakes do as they should and the gearbox does both 2WD and 4WD. In 4WD you also get a choice of low or high range. All of its equipment works, including the aftermarket CD player, with the exception of the drivers’ sun visor and the immobiliser, mostly because they are notable by their absence. The drivers’ seat squab has collapsed somewhat and is currently supported by a plastic bag of packing peanuts squashed underneath. A couple of minor pieces of trim are missing, but these don’t get noticed unless you really look for them.

 

Bodywork wise it is mostly good with the only noticeable rust around the wind screen wiper spindles and the rear bumper. The black paint is a bit flat but the bodywork seems straight with no obvious dents or dings. In case you didn’t know, it is a soft top* because the rear sections of the roof, tail gate and windows can be removed creating a nice wet and windy area for your rear most passengers to sit in.

 

Finally the engine has done about 156,000 miles and pulls well even if the viscous fan is no longer viscous and is now fixed. It doesn’t overheat , explode or even implode and the gearbox does as it should.

I've just spoken to Zippy (GDHaydock), he was out for some night-time green laning over the weekend and there was a SWB Frontera in the group.

 

Apparently it did OK, so I can't see any reason why this one won't be up to the OVROAD element of this year's shitefest.

M53 could be done relatively painlessly, depending on the proximity to your local train station, if you have any chod for sale yourself or if I can find an other chod I particularly want in your local area.

 

My best price is £1,000,000 but I doubt you will want to pay that. Why not make your old pal Phil an offer via PM, along with some sensible suggestions on how I may conclude my journey back to Devon after selling the car to you and I'm sure we will be able to work something out.

Shitefest ends on the Sunday but I will be heading over to Lancashire for the night and then will be heading back down the country on Monday morning, I expect between 10 and 11 I will set off from Leyland so I shouldn't be more than an hour and a half or so to be in your neck of the woods.

 

I have just checked the trains as I didn't believe that could be right, but sadly it is. £106 to be precise so that can fuck right off.

 

National Express is only £57 but takes ELEVEN hours to get from Chester to Tiverton.

 

Megabus will require me getting to Manchester, goes to Exeter rather than Tiverton (about 30 mins away) costs £37 and takes seven hours.

 

Buying some other hopeless tat is starting to look the best option, time to look at ebay, gumtree and retro-rides I think unless anyone else here has a cheap motor in the Chester area?
