'The Dealership' Tonight at 8pm on C4..

Just watched it there, there's no way you'd get away with that in a main dealers, typical Essex wide boys.

Also how overpriced must their cars be if they can give £1000 off an £8000 car and still make money on the price, you'd struggle to get £300-£400 off a car in most places.

They'll be making feck all on the cars, all the profit comes from selling a £10k finance deal on a £6k car.

Correct you give them the grand off the car if that's what they want then add it back on on the finance by upping the rate . You move it between the finance and the metal to suit the deal.

Re the girl and family buying that Bini, surely to Christ if a smarmy twunt salesman kept repeating "OOH LOOK AT HER LITTLE FACE"  to anyone of sound mind a kick up the cobblers and "Fuck right off I wouldn't want that car if you were giving it away" would be the least he deserved!!

Why do some people put up with being patronised and spoken to like they were imbeciles when parting with thousands of pounds?

Your looking from it from outside the situation though. It looks patronising when you watch it back but he was playing them. He realised the dad wasn't going to cave in so went onto the mum and that's how he won it and he got the sale. Did you see here face though it wasn't exactly a poker face.

I've been to some independant dealers in Glasgow that look and speak to you like they want to burn your house down.

The mind boggles that people actually buy stuff in this way. still, if you are mechanically clueless and don't know a cheap mechanic, I can sort of understand buying as new as you can afford. That RR guy was a dick though, stupid amount of money to fork out on finance and thats without the running costs

90% of people buy cars like they'd buy a washing machine. What can I afford? What will it cost to run? What colour is it?

It's only the 10% like us who actually care and these are the ones the dealers don't like.

Yeah, true enough he did win them round and his timing was perfect, giving them 5 minutes to "chill out and have a family discussion" ie let the daughter sell the car for him and the masterstroke; bring the boss out to have a chat with them and let Dad save face by insisting they throw in a set of mats robbed out of another car, bet the old man's boasting about that deal forever more!

Just shows how out of touch I am really, have always enjoyed buying cars, watching that makes me dread the next time I think of changing and decide to be sensible and go to a 'proper' garage.

I've just watched this now hence avoiding this thread until I had. I thought it was fab, the smarmy salesman with his 'look ate her little face' comments about the girl who wanted the Mini made me ROFL a lot. But not as much as the cockwad who wanted the Range Rover and said it was worth the money 'just so you could tell people you had a Range Rover'

This doesn't seem to be on 4OD.

Sounds like the gopher at Mothercare wanting to buy the Range Rover quite possibly has self esteem issues.

Next weeks looks great. The three orange sisters looking for a Mercedes is going to be full of win.
