Looks like 240gl is still getting the same problem I get viewing the forum on my laptop (XP/Firefox if it matters), namely that the header bar is a bit off kilter and runs off the side of the page. It displays fine on my PC with a 22" monitor though. (Vista/Firefox)

 

 

And if we must have the big "Welcome to Autoshite" banner on every page, could the spelling errors at least be corrected?

Not much i can do with theme to stop overlap on lower resolutions apart from rewriting header script (which i will do when its cooler and i can think straight)

Banner is only on guest pages and disappears when logged in and is purposely annoying to encourage guests to register & log in.

The lazier amongst us who cant be bothered to log in will have to put up with it.

Errors hopefully corrected,if someone doesnt point something out i dont know its there as i always log in.

I gave you some very good reasons why it just isn’t practical for me or perhaps many other people who might have login restrictions at work to log in every time I or they popped on here for 5 minutes with a cuppa in the old problem thread. Which, I note you couldn’t even be bothered to reply to me, most probably because I don’t have a massive banter filled fucking post count or a witty bastard location like the more senior members, so my point of view as a member on here probably doesn’t count.

 

This isn’t Oval Chat, where members are forced to log in to view the forum, but if you have your way, it won’t be long before it is quickly turned into a member login only website.

 

I value keeping my account protected on websites that I am a member of from any possible spam posts from my little one and her friends jumping on the computer, when I have to drop everything to stop my classic car mad Son from smashing something up or hurting either himself or somebody else. You don’t know about him or his problems, because I just don’t feel the need to put it up in the grumpy thread every day like the senior members on here would do.

 

You really want to try living with a strong violent teenager with severe mental health problems on a daily basis like I do sometime, because I know that I just haven’t got the luxury of the few extra few seconds spare to log out when he kicks off again and I have to just leave the page open for perhaps half an hour while I calm him down again and clean up the mess, but you keep your stupid screen filling fucking welcome to DAVESHITE bollocks if it that makes you happy Dave.

 

All the other old car websites that we visit on the internet as guests seem to manage just fine without having a stupid full screen DAVESHITE style banner on the top of every fucking page and just place the posting rules for new members in a simple to read sticky.

 

There really isn’t a great deal of interest in the threads on here anyway, since you have also blocked the guests from viewing all the photos uploaded directly to the website.

 

Thanks for that Dave, now because my lad who has lurked on here as a guest for well over 3 years can’t see any of the photos in Trigger’s show threads, which we found had a calming effect on him, he kicked off big time because he couldn’t use my login details, and I no longer have a laptop or 24†flat screen monitor sat on my desk to view the forum on, and we had to buy a new set of French doors to replace the patio doors that he smashed when he threw them through it. That’s okay though, because I now can’t afford to keep my old chod on the road anymore, and another tidy old Volvo will end up scrapped with cartakeback.com rather than suffering the timewaster eBay mongs that we all hate dealing with on here.

 

For a few hours when you and the other mods spat your dummies out at the weekend, which you will note I kept out of, this website was actually fully viewable for him again, but you just couldn’t leave it alone and had to be a fucking control freak with it again in less than 24 hours.

 

As far as we are both concerned, you really have ruined this once great little website by hitting it with a huge Barry stick full of garbage like crapatalk and the faceache style ‘like’ and ‘report’ buttons that it really didn’t need to survive. You clearly haven’t got a clue how to just leave it alone and stop playing about with it all the time, and turning this place into a giant DAVESHITE shaped TURD instead of the once user friendly AUTOSHITE we had before you got handed the keys to the place.

Good grief! I can't really agree with the presentation of that argument, but must concede that Autoshite is very much "less is more." Lurkers have always been a part of this site's history, so why 'force' folk to sign up? 

 

Naturally I'm very, very grateful for the work you've done Dave (even if some folk don't seem to share that view) and I really like the new forum. I think the vast majority are pleased with it too.

First of all Autoshite 999 is nothing to do with me it belongs to fred transit.

Forums i Admin/Mod are mainly private filesharing sites which for obvious reasons i cant share.

While i sympathise with your personal problems it really is nothing to do with me.

Once again i am sorry that you dont like guest prompt but you will find it on 99% of forums of all types and is designed to get new posting members which all forums want.

Nothing has changed on board since failed try with member tags etc,nor will it be.

I dont personally like exessive swearing because of reason described in suggestions threads,but that was why i started thread to get others opinions and opinion was such that swearing was fine.

So really this is about 1 person getting upset about something that actively benefits the board,it also cuts down immensly on spam because of the

"WARNING"--Your first 5 posts will be approved by staff before they appear on board

 

This stops human spam members even bothering to join.

 

What you do over this is entirely up to you.

 

Didnt realise that guests couldnt see picture,will check that out and fix it.Maybe a simple "why cant guests see photos" in problems thread would have had it fixed long ago.
