IS this site even near accurate?

I have a Perodua Nippa Sepang.

There was a Sepang sold on ebay last month.

HML says there are none left in the UK, although last month, it said there was 1.

There are blatantly AT LEAST three in the country.

Gr8 for selling 'there's xxx many left in the country' statistics. Not so GR1 for actual accuracy.

No, not very accurate.

I think one problem is that it often lists lots of different variants of the same model separately, which produces misleading results.

HML gets an unfair bashing for accuracy. It's just a pretty presentation of the DVLA's data, which they occasionally dump online as massive spreadsheets. Their data is a terrible mess for old cars after generations of computer changes, multiple human interpretations of handwritten documents, special editions sometimes being recorded as distinct models but not always, car companies confusing branding (austin/morris/austin-morris/leyland/british leyland/rover Mini is probably the worst) and so on.

I think the real question here is why the fuck anyone would freely admit to owning a Perouda Nipper Sepang in public

I like it, always liked the Perodua Nippa, but I think it's the only one of the brand I do

As said it's down to DVLA and how they register things, what does it say on the V5?

My little Daihatsu's are down on the V5's as make: Daihastu model: (Blank) make: Daihatsu model: Daihatsu and make: Daihatsu, model: Unknown ... They're 2 Cuores/Miras and a Sirion/Storia.

It's not registered as a 'Sepang', so obviously it wouldn't show up as one on HML etc.

V669JLG is a 1999 PERODUA NIPPA GX 5 DOOR HATCHBACK

Does the Sepang have anything other than that weird flag sticker?

My mum has a one owner from new Perodua Nippa with 50,000 easy going miles that is still on the road... Its a thing of beauty too!

I saw one round my way in SW London, looked a perfectly fine city car to me.

Yeah, or Daihatsu Mira/Kancil/Cuore.

~Unfortunately, my brother knackered the engine somehow and I now have to put another one in it (or change the bearing caps/shells).

The Nippa is roomy, high, nippy (!), handles and does 60mpg. But now taps like Fred Astaire after being spiked with elephant grade amphetamines by Bruce Forsythe after he put a £2000 bet on him to win in a celebrity 'who can tap dance the fastest' contest. :(  :sad-smiley-005:

The Nippa like that one is based on the L200 series Daihatsu Mira. These are very popular in Malaysia where they do silly things with them involving turbo's and drag racing. I've seen dyno sheets from 850cc models producing 200+bhp. I think I read that the 3-pot 850cc bottom end mates up with the head from the later (EF-RL) 660cc turbo Mira, then you get a custom exhaust manifold made (about £250) and fit the turbo from a Pajero or similar. I'm currently having a custom manifold made in Malaysia for one of my little Daihatsu's.

The Mira's are quite small, but I don't think the interior space is much different to a mk1 BINI.
