Keep or sell?

Not  pertaining to a car, but my old GSXR750 WN.

I have owned the bike for 10 years and it has covered a paltry 17k from new.

Before that my brother owned it for three years.

The bike was manufactured in July 1992 but is on a K plate as it is a parallel import.

It has a dynojet kit fitted, vance and hines can, k&n filter and steering damper. I still have the original exhaust and handbook as well as loads of MOT's. The bike does'nt have a full history as I have done it myself, this being the result of poor service from the local bike shops in the past .

Bike has good tyres (michelin pilots) and braided front hoses. It has a few chips on the tank paintwork, but gets lots of good comments from people, especially the MOT tester.

Reason for selling? I wanted a change and I am now finding riding it a bit uncomfortable (middle age). However what is putting me off is the fact that it is probably only worth £1200 tops. I fancy a VTR1000 or TL 1000 but to get one a nice as my bike with comparable mileage would cost  £2k +.

What do the bikers on here think?

As a comparison, my neighbour handed over £3.5 k for a 1992 blade which although in excellent condition had twice the miles of my bike and needed the head off because of a stripped spark plug thread.

I've sold bikes before that I have regretted. As well as spending more to get a like for like bike (that was good) you will also spend more getting it in shape to make it into something that you would be happy with. The bike you have is a great machine. You also know it inside out. Best to spend a couple of quid to 'freshen it up' somehow instead perhaps. Get a gel seat made, more comfy grips, etc.

Good luck with the choice you make (either way).

Ã‚£3.5K for a '92 'Blade? Really? More money than sense methinks.

Keep it.

Keep it ....... and buy my B-805 for £3k to keep it company

I sold my mint '93 blade for £2k and that was 11 years ago! 16 inch front wheel fun. The gixer 750 is a classic and I'm surprised it's only worth £1200 but i don't have any recent bike knowledge. You're obviously looking for some v twin grunt for a change from your screamin' four and I would go for the TL over the Honda. Looks better. How much are SP1s these days?

As above, and what PBK said about the arse/seat interface medium.

Like the bike, know the bike?  Keep the bike.

But always keep in mind the statement below...  :D

Very keen to know the outcome of this.

The likelihood is that I will keep it - I had also considered getting rid to fund the respray of my SD1, however if I did this I would imagine it unlikely that I would get another bike - middle age, kids etc.

You know what I mean.

After splashing out on new braided hoses and rear pads I have decided to sell - need something a bit more comfortable and a little less frantic.

I have put it on ebay (with a reserve), if it does'nt sell then fine - it wont be given away.

No doubt at the end of the week I wil be starting another thread abot "ebay dickheads" etc....
