Ford Cortina - the complete history

Just borrowed the above book from the library.

I don't own a cortina but it is very interesting nonetheless - if you own one you should get hold of a copy.

Lots of facts, including turbocharged prototype mk 3's which ford evaluated but canned, lots of info on the savage models as well.

I was particularly interested in the MK IV S models, in particular the 2.3 - apparently there may be only 1 left, they  were never a big seller.

Definately a good bedtime read.

Ford Cortina - the complete history

It was shit so I bought it for half a bag.

It rusted like it would go out of fashion.

The engine blew.

I rebuilt the engine, fitted a new clutch.

Next the gearbox blew.

I replaced the gearbox.

I gave it to my sister.

The exhaust fell off while she was holidaying in Italy.

I fitted a new exhaust.

She sold it to some council estate bloke for a square.

He welded it up and repainted it.

He sold it to some 70s hipster in Kensington or Mayfair for 5 bags including OMG scenetax.

It's still shit.

I have a MK IV "S". It's off the road just now though.

There's two 2.3S's as far as I'm aware- a brown one and a black one that's recently come out of the woodwork.

An excellent book which I'm proud to have in my home library. Bit on the expensive side, though.

What's a square?
