Unexpected purchase - Chevette

That is a serious bargain!

Ive had a couple of "Shove its" , an early 76 model with the recessed headlights and a Chevette 'E' which took basic back to the bloody Stone Age. An 'E' model would lose a fight in a straight line sprint with an 850cc Mini, im sure.

Brilliant work

That is superb, please post more pictures of it. I can't imagine the last time I saw one of those in the flesh, twenty years ago maybe? Stunning.

Looks pretty ace. Perhaps you could turn it into a police panda car replica, on account of its base model status and colour? :)

Looks awl-white.

Two door saloons are a rare sight these days.

Well bought indeed. Especially as the fella included daredevil delivery.

Would anybody agree that chevettes have the stingiest, most dismal-looking interior of all time? Someone pointed this out to me when I was about 14 and even at that tender age I found myself agreeing. Having said that, I still would! I have not actually driven one any distance but am let to believe they are a pretty ace steer.

I wouldn't agree, I think the Mk2 Escort interior was worse, at least the Chevette didn't have bare metal on the actual dashboard.

So, I've had the car running and Mot'd for a few months and really enjoyed it. Both sills, plus other welding required, total brake overall, full service, and replacing most perishable items before a full ticket with no advisories. It's totally different drive to my Allegro, much less comfortable with a far more budget feel. She pulls better than my oil burning A-series, handles better and much easier to park due impressively light steering. It's super cool looking too IMO so I can drive around like a BOSS. Cleaned up and sorted..

Anyway, lack of winter storage and plans to finally get my Metro sorted for trackdays means I've decided it's time to move her on. She's not been a financially sensible purchase, with costs well in excess of what she's worth, but who give a fug.

Good home hopefully.

Lack of snazzy tartan style seats is made up for with those black bumpers, I think they only came on the 'E' series models. It seems to be (rightly) doing well on the auction, and the pictures are brochure worthy!
