That is pretty dam impressive.

You must be fairly supple to get your leg up into that door though.. Could prove interesting if you encounter a few beers while you are out sight seeing. :-)

That looks great. I was considering doing something similar with my Favorit Pick Up, but thought it may be a bit top heavy and unstable in a side wind, so I bought a cheap trailer tent instead.

Are you putting some side panels on below the flatbed as well?

That's lovely, I have a question, seeing as it's a stoke registered car, where was the dealer? I can't remember an fso dealer for the life of me

This is awesome. Just watch those bridges on a windy day!

I've seen a dealer list from 78/79 that said Johnson & Richards of Shelton New Road, Basford. I can't say I've heard of them but Ken Jervis would have been my preferred guess as he seemed to like the oddball import stuff.

The favorit is only a 500kg pickup I think where is this is a 1 tonne pickup, so can deal with the weight. I've also fitted wider tyres.

To answer your question about side panels, that's what I've made this week :-)

Spare wheel carrier is the next thing I'll be making. At least the spare wheel and its black cover will break up the vast expanse of white on the back. The 70 litre fresh water tank will live where the spare wheel used to be underneath.

I hope to see "Jedno Zycie Zyc" somewhere on the finished article together with a Camel Trophy sticker?

That's a bloody good idea actually :-)

The guy in the workshop next to me does the decals for me so easy to get done.

More progress today. Rear light guards fitted and also the spare wheel carrier. Tomorrow I will wire up the front and rear marker light and then fit out the inside.

I'll be interested to see the interior layout, as I'm still working out the interior plans for my caravan of love* project. It's difficult trying to fit everything I want into a small space. I still haven't decided whether to go for a fitted sink/hob, or to fit the harmonium and make do with a washing up bowl and camping gaz stove.

Today was an exciting day for me as the camper is Taxed and insured and on the road. It came off the road in 2011 as a truck. It drove really well and despite the high winds, it was no worse to drive than my Iveco was in the crosswinds.

I've got to get the interior finished by Friday the latest as I'm leaving for a 2 month trip next Sunday
