slight throttle delay and now with pics of the event

I have just put the old colt back on the road after its winter rest,

I have given it a service and all seems well apart from a slight hiccup when first planting the throttle, its a bit annoying when I back of for a corner then apply throttle to have this hesitation as it causes the car to lurch, I wouldn't normally be troubled by this but as I am doing the Berwick classic this weekend its a bit frustrating, it will sure make the tests a bit more of a challenge

any ideas peeps I have even got the tank full of super unleaded but still does it.

How long has it been stored? Would the fuel line benefit from a blast of airline through it? Is there an inline fuel filter you could clean out?

Is it just a cable, or does it have a Throttle Position Sensor? If it's got a TPS, it may be worth unclipping, cleaning and refitting. If that doesn't cure it, a new sensor should be £30-40 from the likes of Unipart/Andy Page (assuming it's not some obscure Mitsi-only part).

Could be any number of things. A fuel blockage seems a distinct possibility if it has been off the road for a while, but might be worth having a quick look at the spark plugs too.

Its been of road since oct last year and all filters have been changed plus new plugs points condensor, its carbed so no tps crap to worry about. I can't remember if it did the same last year or not  I'm just going to trake it for a thrash up the road as I have 3 hrs before scrutineering.

My Cortina has exactly the same issue, It's really annoying, I've been told it's the accelerator pump diaphragm in the carb that's split so I've bought a rebuild kit, could it be something like that?. Either that or it could be your throttle cable seizing up, it's amazing how much difference a new cable can make.

Accelerator pump - either crudded up,diaphragm split, or nozzle blocked.

Crud/diaphragm split both mean removing the (4?) little screws that hold the assembly on to side of carb body.

Nozzle- strip top off, remove and either blow through gently or squirt oil through - both in reverse flow of course. With the cleaner housing off you can see if it's squirting when you apply throttle.

Well half way through day 1 and the hesitation is not as bad. Only 3 tests left today so hopefully she will hang in.

Could it not just be a bit damp from sitting for a while?

My GSX-R750 was somewhat temperamental if not used for a while (I think the coils were to blame) then after everything dried up it was back to normal.

270 odd miles later and here we are at the end of a long fun packed weekend with no damage apart from tyre wear and looking a bit dirty.

cant wait for the next one as it was a great event although the regularities let us down a bit
