I have seen this car round the doors a few times and nearly had a cow when I clocked it the first time in Asda car park. I could see it was a shitter but had no idea what it was. Then I clocked it again driving towads me, this time I took its reg number and discovered via he net that its a Rover 827. THEN yesterday I finally captured it in Morrisons pez station. The owner looked surprisingly normal, not at all the middle aged vest wearing beardy freak I imagined. Sadly I could only snap the front, but the back has had all features removed and a set of round 'land rover' style tail lights mounted vertically, suffice to say it looks astonisingly ugly. Also, it had a couple of faded laser-printed signs mounted very cack-handedly on the boot saying 'Text WORK to 84117' or something like that... obv I havent dared try it.

If you squint a bit it looks like a badly pimped Chrysler 300C

Hmm... Maybe not.

Just needs the inclusion of a 'U' on the number plate

Once you know what the car is you can see the original bonnet in there, what puzzles me is that he appears to have ironed out the swage lines making it look very different down the side. Quite a clever disguise to be fair, it doesn`t look at all like an 800.

Bigstraight6 beat me to it on the numberplate!I think it looks like a Chrysler 180 at the side windows now.Why turn what is a reasonably interesting and box-ticking shite motor into this, monstrosity!Brilliant spot in my book too therefore! 8)

Crikey, thats gonna weight about three tonne with all the filler that must be attached to it now.

With that grill it kind or reminds me of one of what are pretty clever but largely pointless customs done by Andy Saunders many years ago.

To be fair i am sure they are all great advertising for his customs business, but i imagine they are all bought by merchant bankers and estate agents with too much money and left to decay and fall to bits.

Don't know about you guys but that reg is a clue as to what it is

Shame as the 800 is a nice bus. Always thought it was a shame it was a fwd car though. That size should be a rwd really imho!Still, id like an early D reg 827 Stearling or something.

Posted

Why should it be RWD? FWD or RWD, big cars still handle like buses.

NO way! My old W126 S class was a beautiful handling 17 foot beast. Got the tail end to gently step out on big roundabouts and fishtail it side to side on the exit roads........got interesting looks from other motorists too.Bigger the better IMHO.Top spot, a proper shitter.

I always thought the 800 was pretty light on it`s feet for a big car that isn`t really cracked up to be a rollerskate or anything.
