These represent the tools of my trade as a port agent very many years ago....

 

Had 2 Renner 4s, killed one within 4 months in a dust up with a Singer Vogue, the other died a more natural death.   The Simca I had was actually badged as Dodge, Talbot and Simca in three different places and was orangier than this pic.   That died too, having shat its coolant on the M3 after an urgent airport run.    

 

The Escort was far better but much duller

Ram ProMaster...FWD with a Pentastar V6 up front...To me that sounds insane. It could be absolutely Ace though...

When Martini & Rossi had a bottling plant in the docks there was one of these things running around in their livery.   Bloody awesome thing and yet I never papped it much to my continued annoyance....

I nearly made the mistake of buying a Vanette years ago. Slowest and loudest thing on the planet, We'll have to work hard to find a shiter van.

I liked my Vanette but I'm mental. Not sure it's slower or louder than a Transit 2.5Di or LDV Convoy and they handle well enough.

The Mercedes T2 Dusseldorfer set the benchmark in terms of unkillability, eventually becoming the darling of bus operators up and down the UK. It also made a delightful racket,

Not really, I think they were all high roof versions, and the specs were slightly different.

I like them but they are definitely shite.

Fitting the 2.0TD installed in Japanese versions would have made them a lot more palatable.

Whilst searching for the above I came across a Nissan CABSTAR brochure. I was struck by how simple it would be to change CABSTAR to BASTARD.

Hope this helps someone here.

That's nothing. Apparently the American market Transit has options for AWD, and the Ecoboost (twin turbo!) V6. Now that would be a giggle.

they aren't the only brewery to have the same idea, this one i've not seen or heard of, and looks like its built up on a 2CV chassis

My mate has one, which has been in the family since new. Hugely slow, with only 60 bhp but feels incredibly well built. Don't know if they're standard, but it even has grease nipples on the door hinges!

This miserable bastard was an attempt by Standard-Triumph to break into the medium delivery van market alongside Ford's Thames, the BMC J vans and the Bedford CA.  

 

Originally bestowed with the Standard Ten engine/gearbox (necessitating a cack-handed reverse-rake gear lever arrangement) it soon became obvious that 948cc was not going to haul half a ton very quickly......Later vans had the Ensign version of the wet-liner Vanguard engine.

 

It lived into the 1960s as the Leyland Fifteen and Twenty and even longer in India.
