somewhere in amongst that giant hoard was a photo with two what appear to be Series 3 Jaguar police cars, except they are 2 door. What's that then?

Also, I'd love to get an XJ40 like the green one in one of the first photos.

The green Jag XJ40s are by Matchbox. Not sure of their origin, but they are more detailed than the ordinary maroon coloured versions. See top left in photo:

The police cars are older Corgis (I think). They are Series 2 cars. Series 3 had black plastic bumpers!

I'm putting this nice set of Tomica Limited Vol. 1 Skylines up for sale:

£80 including postage within the UK, which is less than I paid for them. Might sound expensive, but remeber there's 12 models in there. I don't know if they've ever been taken out of their individual boxes. This set covers the older models and has a standard and alloy-wheeled version of each one.

Skills! Fatha_wat's friend runs a tyre business in Sale and owns an 840 that used to belong to Jay Kay. His name's on the log book and everything.

In other news, I managed to track down a 'Scandinavia only' Minichamps 1959 Amazon in red.

The vendor sent me a charming Netherlandglish meshage today saying he's posted it. Can't wait.

It's got loads of little details that were deleted on later cars like mine - the front grilles, hubcaps and boot garnish are different.

YESH!I love Dutch accented English. There was a girl on the radio when I was at University (before foul illness) who was utterly beautiful. She also sounded a bit like Goldmember :D 'Ohhhh yesh, dish ish Eytey Sheven poynt sheven baylreeg eff emm and shat wash de Blahck Reybl Motrshycle Clubb....dey're great!'

I did not know that. I know you lived there for a bit, but you lived further north of the city than me.I was a student there but everything went to pot when my health declined. Everything faltered, I didn't get my degreeand it's only really now that I'm getting back to where I was before things went a bit pants.I'd like to go back there in ten years or so and do something postgraduate, as I liked living there, problems nothwithstanding. When were you there? We've probably met and not realised, although the campus is effing massive.I was on Bailrigg a HELL of a lot in my third year. I spent far too much time there when I should have concentrated on studying and getting better. I was also Head of Production for a term but then the other mancom members voted me out when the decided a recovering external student couldn't be on the management committee.

Was really nice when I built it but as I was fitting the glass I managed to get a blob of glue on the windscreen....twat.....so I had to put a couple of figures in there and position the wipers to look like they are erm.... wipng with the washers being used.

Is this supposed to be a Dutch plate? If so, it's a 1985 registration...

I was just reading that back-and-forth between Pog and Wat and I genuinely forgot which thread I was reading. So on finding that picture of the 850 I tried to click it thinking it was an eBay link to a real car.... well done! :)

It appears the plate I have at home ('41-FX-25') is from 1975 if I've read the table correctly.

The green Jags were available from Nestlé as a promotion on Kit Kats IIRC. Have you got any close up pictures of the extra detailing on them?

In regards to police Jaguars, I also have a Matchbox Super Kings Series 2 or 3 very similar to the Corgi one.

Do you purchase duplicates on purpose or do you buy them not realising you've already got them, as has been mentioned?

Peter C, who makes the Mazda 3? The small silver Citroen BX? The small light blue Fiat Ritmo? The small red Talbot Horizon?Think that's all. It's amazing how many of the same models we've got!

I buy most of my models from local (Bucks & Berks) carboot sales. I buy for three reasons:

1. I like collecting.

2. I feel like I am saving a rare model from the hands of a child (who may damage it).

3. For investment. I buy cheap and know that some of the models are worth good money.

I don't mind having duplicates and I don't feel that they compromise the collection.

Spot on re the green XJ40! More pics:

The small silver BX is by Norev.

The light blue Fiat Ritmo is by Pilen, made in Spain.

The red Talbot Horizon is by Guisval, also made in Spain.

Hey, went for a MEGA LOFT CLEARANCE today on my rest day. Found a veritable shitload of Lledo 1:43s (including a boxed Thrust SSC I didn't realise I still had) and all my old DTM guff that I was looking for. Plus some old battered Corgis and Dinkys.

Posted Image

Solido \ Vitesse Renault collection. The white boggo Clio I bought when I went to Tignes skiing in 1992 with Fatha_Wat.

Posted Image

Solido Clio Williams. LOVED these when they came out.

Posted Image

Williams and Alberville 1992 edition Clio.

Posted Image

Solido 19 Cabrio. Bought this from the Renault showroom \ museum on the Champs Elysee in 1993 or thereabouts.

Posted Image

Vitesse Laguna Estate. Got this as a pressie from my dad's friend when he ran J&E on Manchester Road. Always thought the rear deck looked weird.

Posted Image

Minichamps 190E DTM. Went through a spate of liking the DTM stuff. This was mega cheap from Bowlers because it was unboxed.

Posted Image

Corgi WW Ford GT70. Has a really detailed Essex V6 mounted midships.

Posted Image

Corgi GT40. Bonnet and boot open. Might have had the innards painted gold at one time, doesn't look original.

Posted Image

4WD Tomy Beetle thing. Had this from a very young age.

Posted Image

Corgi Series 1 Land Rover. Thought Mr. Ross might like.

Posted Image

Minichamps DTM Calibra. Lost the pantograph bit on the wiper. Balls.

Posted Image

Onyx ETM Vectra Touring Car......

Posted Image

Schuco Vauxhall Vectra.

Posted Image

Minichamps DTM Ford Mondeo. Probably my favourite out of my touring cars, mainly for the weird livery.

Posted Image

Battered Corgi Lancia Fulvia Zagato. Loved the side hinged bonnet.

Posted Image

Vanguards Bedford. Listed underneath as a 'Big Bedford' :)

Posted Image

Minichamps DTM BMW E36.

Posted Image

Corgi 'Saint' Volvo P1800.

Posted Image

Dinky LSR car which I think is a Thunderbolt.

Posted Image

Corgi MGA which is quite boss.

Posted Image

Corgi VW Transporter which has an opening tool chest.

Posted

watanabe, love those touring cars and the clio williams, your beetle just reminded me of a remote control golf i have it has Mk2 rear but Mk1 front and sides, très bizarre

Posted

The Land Rover is a series two.

Is it? Bollocks, I know even less about Landies than I thought.
Posted

I reckon that dinky LSR might be worth COINZ on the 'bay, all old LSR stuff seems like it makes a pretty penny regardless of condition.let me know if you want to part with that Fulvia....

It's not the first time I've been told that about the Dinky LSR. Whenever I seem to ask, it seems it's worth fuck all.I will have a browse though, cheers for the heads up.
