The trick is knowing which ones won't drop or even maybe go up in value so you don't get caught out. Predictably usually only Ford stuff does that though!

Looks nice, can't remember if I've got it though. Often have that trouble. Sometimes even duplicating models in my collection before realising I've already got one! Can nearly always sell on though so not a problem

I've got a few duplicates in Minichamps Capris, but I've concluded that they're an investment, so not a problem.

Virtually all the MkIII models increased in value so they're good to have. Pleased to say I've got all the MkIII's thus far. I've got some of the MKIIs but didn't feel the need to get all of them & only got 1 of the MKI, a white RS 2600 no less, got a Detail Cars one too in red with black vinyl roof

I got my hidden treasure morris 1800 from that show on saturday for £8 so i guess it was cheaper if you take postage into account.Im so so so so tempted to buy a vanguards capri right nowi have my eye (as usual) on a police onebut im split between that, a red sapphire and a fiat ritmo convertable.WHAT DO I DO

I swear that Vanguards Sussex Police Capri is based on a car that somebody owned who used to work at the same place as me in Chichester, used to see it in the car park. There can't be many W reg MkIII Capris about in full on Sussex plod jam sandwich livery!

I'm not sure but it certainly has that look about it, plus it's the only model of a Strada/Ritmo cabriolet available. DeAgostini isn't it? I've got it in silver I believe.I'm not 100% happy with the Vanguards Sapphire, likewise the Rover SD1, the shape is good, accuracy in the detail etc, just doesn't look big enough for my liking, they look too small & skinny. Put the Sapphire next to the new MkIII Escort & the Sierra should easily look the bigger of the 2 but it doesn't, it's a little longer but in terms of the width, the Saph looks too puny! The SD1 should be big & imposing & should dwarf other models like the Marina & the MkII Cortina but doesn't! Either the SD1 has been underestimated or the Marina & Cortina are bloated. I couldn't believe for instance that the Vanguards MkII Cortina & the Minichamps Ford Taunus break (MkIII Cortina estate) were supposed to be the same scale, the Minichamps Taunus was dwarfed by the Vanguards Cortina - somebody is WRONG, you can't all be RIGHT! Minichamps models do seem very petite & possibly under-scaled but some Vanguards seem unwieldy & overly large. Going by the price I'd have to trust Minichamps to be correct! It hasn't stopped me buying any of their models though, as so far the Vanguards Sapphire & SD1 are the only collector's models available of those vehicles so far...

oh my god i agreemy mark 2 cortina dwarfs the minichamps scorpio estate i havei personally think older vanguards toolings were wrong, and the newer ones right.I do like the sapphire police car i have, but it does seem small......Should be the same size as the granada mk 1 or near enough surely?All of the new toolings seem to be the right scale though.also regie i know matchbox isnt your forte...but why do i have one xr3 with a towhook and one without? why change the casting? the one without the towhook is mint condition and boxed

Might not be, theres an Italian manufacturer - Edison Giocattoli - who have produced a lot of Italian stuff including a 1/43 Ritmo Cabrio in Gold. I'm guessing it might be that?

It is. Probably. They tend to use actual cars to model, a lot of the pre launch information they send out shows pictures af the actual cars rather than the (at the time unproduced) models.

EG - off the top of my head they have also produced -Lancia Thema, Fiat Ritmo 5dr, Lancia Delta, Alfa Sud, Alfa Giulietta, Audi A4, Autobianchi Y10, A112 plus loads of other mainly Italian stuff.

Wow very good price, feedback looks good although not a lot of it. I'd say it's kosher! Unfortunately as said before I bought this one when it came out at full price as I often did with Vanguards although in future I might just dive in for the ones I think are gonna be good sellers (normally just Fords) then hold back for the rest & pick em up when they inevitably come down :wink:PS: I love the detail on this one, rear number plate just chucked onto the back seat!

Thanks for the heads up on the snag! I've ordered one now. I've got a 'carded' delivery from the post office to collect. I am excited in case it contains Vanguards! Most likely one of the THREE allegro's I seem to have bought (2 hidden treasures, one normal in brown)
