Yep the large red E30 is a plastic kit (Jap IIRC). It has space on the boot floor for two AA batteries to power it. The steering can be set in varying degrees l & r.I bought it back in 1988.The black small E30 is minichamps 320i I bought from John Drake models last year.

He is from the county of it's registration. It doesn't get out much though.

Maybe I'll spot it one day :D Talking of Ayrshire cars, I'm driving to Arran on Sat and theres a chap in Dalry who always has something from the Simca/Chrysler empire outside his/her house, just off the Main Street. Last year on my way there there was a mint Solara Minx or Rapier outside, and on the way back it was a Simca 1100 8)

I got 2 bargains todayI got the Vanguards Triumph TR7 in 'New White' and the Morris J2 'Post Office Telephones' in modelzone. Combined total for both was less than a tenner! Its rare for a store to be cheaper than the internet. I'd recommend the model collectors of you to visit your local store, as they might be having the same clearance. The one in Basingstoke also has some of the Michelin partwork vehicles in its sale, for example, Citroen H van, Ford transit Mk 1 LWB, Citroen DS estate, £4.99 each.Anyone want to see my model collection?

The security Ford still has its gold in the back too :)

Killingbeck were using Atkinsons into the 90s, sadly not anymore.

A national in 'new' stagecoach livery, looks good

Yes the top centre one is a Lada Samara, bought on the norway-russia border :)

More Vanguards, I seriously think the Cavalier SRi model is one of the best models ever.

I have more, but these are the best.

I also have that Yorkshire Rider Landrover amongst others. That Lada model looks very interesting, the image makes it look like a MkIII Polo. Can you get any closer pictures of it? I didn't realise you could get one of those Group 4 D Series with gold in the back, I've never seen the gold! Mine didn't have any gold (but then it was 2nd hand). Is that a Scottish National?

youre right, the lada does look alot like a mk 3 polo! But the (Russian) writing on the box says LADA 2108 which is what they called it in Russia. My security truck was 2nd hand too, off da bay. It cost £2.99 :D and is in brilliant condition, i love how ingenious the locks are. The Corgi escort also cost me around the same, and its pretty much mint. Yes that is a Scottish National, dont know when it was put out of service though, the plate doesnt come up on the DVLA. Irish plate to hide the age!

That is quite cheap. A lot of the Vanguards older stuff (pre take over) has come down in price an awful lot, Corgi had produced massive amounts and had vast stocks so it was all very heavilly discounted to retailers to try and move stock and improve cashflow. Unfortunately this also completely bolloxed their business which brought them to the point where they were taken over last year. The new stuff introduced since Hornby took control is in a lot smaller quantities and therefore doesn't get discounted at all. Plus they have some really good stuff coming out under the Vanguards brand later this year. You do sometimes get bargains in Modelzone, not often though. They don't normally bother with partwork stuff at all though. The Michelin stuff is very good quality though, is cheap and is available in far larger quantities than most part work collections.

I was surprised that Hornby were a bigger company than Corgi, I thought it was like the equivalent of Lledo taking over Corgi. As long as Hornby can take them in the direction they wanted to go in! I suppose the Trackside stuff will go very nicely with their existing business.I've been caught out with this Michelin stuff, I picked up a couple of the more popular ones that were going for £20 plus on eBay a few months back for a bargain price in Modelzone, thought I was going to make a bit of coin for them but they won't even sell for a tenner! It's as if we've suddenly gone from undersupply to oversupply! How frustrating. Especially as I bought mine when they were going for more :x

Some of the Michelin stuff - notably the Mehari, DS Thousandfeet and 350N have sold really well although to be fair the fact that it is all very good and pretty cheap means it doesn't hang around that much though. £10 sounds a bit strong unless you want to hang onto it for a bit and sell it in a few months once most sellers have sold out.I bought the Michelin R4 and 2CV for my personal collection last year in France, paid about 10 Euro each thinking that as I wanted them it was better to get them whilst I could as you can't be sure the partwork stuff will actually make it over here. Ho hum...Hornby seem to be turning Corgi around very nicely, spoke to the Corgi rep a while back and he seemed very pleased with the new product. Bear in mind that Hornby have been churning out trains for years, regularly updating and replacing their product so are quite a strong business and also have Scalextric and Airfix in their 'family' so Corgi was probably a good addition.

I picked up a couple of the 350Ns for a fiver each whcih I thought was a real score. I saw one at Bromley for 8 quid which looked a good price & watched as someone snatched it up. I must have paid about 16 euros for one a year or so ago which seems to be the average going rate for a lot of these partwork models. The ones offered in a normal auction style often went upto 20 euros plus so I thought offering them at £9.99 each seemed quite fair but I was quite shocked to see so many UK sellers had them for 5 or 6 quid! They are a substantial, well detailed & eye catching model for the money, but now I've got 3 of the buggers  One I would really like which doesn't seem to have got any more common or cheap when a lot of the others have is the Michelin DS experimental vehicle in orange, yellow & black. It has about 10 wheels & looks very bizarre. Unfortunately I've yet to see one advertised for less than £30 despite the fact it's just another partwork release I believe!

Actually, Norev produced one last year which was about £40 retail I think. That might be the one you are seeing? This one is part of the same Michelin part work collection produced by Altaya / IXO.

I've hunted high and low for a 120Y in diecast or kit form but it doesn't seem to exist.

No, unfortunately there isn't anything for the collector otherwise I'm damn sure I'd have bought a 120Y model by now! Datsun has been very much overlooked by modern diecast companies. Ebbro have done the odd Datsun, Kyosho etc but they're always the fancy ones, the Z cars, the Skylines etcNorev released a 910 Bluebird recently but unfortunately they've done it as a Japanese spec one as virtually all models of Asian cars seem to be instead of the European spec that we know & love. There are some Japanese made models, primarily as toys but they are quite collectable. I know that a company called Diapet made an F10(?) Cherry Coupe, they may have done a 120Y as well but they were in an odd scale like 1/41 or something. There is a small scale (1/66?) 120Y Coupe made by Tomica you can seek out. But we desperately need some proper models of 1970s Datsuns/Nissans! I was hoping J-Collection might produce an 'old timers' range but so far nothing!

That's the one, seems I've taken my eye off the ball again & the situation has changed since what I held to be true. Those were always up for more than the others, but maybe more have come out of the woodwork as with the rest of the range! :D

I can't see eBay at work, do you have it in your 'other models' section? How much is it up for? (and will you be getting more as I'm rather brassick at the moment!)

Definitely looking forward to the future with the Corgi Vanguard range, Im going to get the Nova and Talbot Sunbeam Lotus when they come out.Didnt Corgi have alot of delays last year? What was that to do with?I really want them to make some models of 80s BL Austin Rover products, such as the Metro and Rover 800. Plenty of colours and variety for both. Likewise they should make a Sherpa and a MK II Transit, they would both sell in the bucketload, i dont think anyone has made proper models of either, other than that james bond partwork Sherpa and Corgi toys made a MK II transit ages ago. You can definitely see a quality increase in their products though, the detailing has got so much better.

No, we have a specific category for the Altaya Michelin stuff. £7.99 and no probably not, nobody seems to have them in stock. We ordered 30, got about 5  They come in different packaging to the other Michelin stuff and for some reason none of the wholesalers seems to have any now so we might not get any more.....

Not sure tbh, largely down to the takeover presumably. They had announced a lot of new models which are still due to come out over the next few months. The quality has improved vastly though with some really nice stuff due to come out later in the year.

well compared to say, 5 years ago, the price is around £4-5 more vanguards, but they look alot better. Sadly alot of sellers on ebay sell them for way too much, even more than corgi direct. For Example, the Ford Cortina mk III in life in mars colours (apparently) wont be seen for anything less than £25, and some sellers also wont sell standard releases for anything less than that.I once saw a seller who had the early Corgi classics releases ( undesirable) going for that too, suffice to say, i dont think they sold many.

Do you mean the Rover 100 or the Metro without the recessed headlamps? As far as im aware Corgi toys are the only ones you can get of the metro with normal headlights, and i think there was a white metal Van released a few years ago, scarce now though. No one has ever done a Rover 100 model.
