Anyone Fancy a Ford Puma?

I bought this Puma last year for Mrs C to use while she was waiting for her new Shitroen to arrive. In retrospect I wish she'd just kept the Puma as her daily but that's a fight I was probably never going to win.

I took a shine to it for some reason and thought it might be a nice quick project to get it really tidy as there's not many tidy Pumas out there (by that I mean one without their rear wheel arches hanging out).

I started to fit the wheel arch and then the v5 turned up showing it was a CAT-D. I think it must have been pretty light as the only thing I can spot it it's had a new wing and a headlamp.

Anyway given I'd cut a lump out of it it was too late to change my mind so I finished the arch off then bought a replacement door for it (the other one had a dent). I fitted this after a battle (don't fancy doing that again) then painted the quarter and the bottom of the wing. I also gave it a full service with the proper 5/30 oil at which point I found out the rocker cover gasket had a leak so I changed that too.

By this point the MOT had ran out so I put it in yesterday and it failed on a few wee bits, which will be fixed this week meaning it has a years MOT. It's also taxed until the end of March.

Enough of the drivel. It's a 1.7 with the Yamaha vvt engine, 2000 on a V, 104k (i think), no history but a sticker on the strut top saying the timing belt was changed at 99k. It's just had a full service and is very tidy for one of these. There's a few little bits of rust and the odd little dent here and there but no rear arch rot! I've kurusted and touched in most of the little rusty bits there are. The interior's tidy, no stains or anything, still has the metal gear knob and after a prolonged battle I got the radio decoded.

I've spent a fortune on the bloody thing and probably done about 200 miles in it since we got it but I can't get anything else bigger in my lockup with it hanging around. I fancy that Monza that's for sale over on RR as a new resto project so this needs to make way.

If you've not driven one you're missing out. They're great to drive as they're so light and rev like mental.

I'm looking for £550 quid for it. If I don't get that I'm sure I'll find something else interesting to do with it. I'm in Ayrshire Scotchland (30 miles from Glasgow). I'm open to swaps and PX's on other interesting shite.

I'll get more pictures up but here's some to get started

Looks exactly the same as mine, except I have the 1.4 - which is a proper hoot. The 1.7 must be fabulous. They are planted on the road superbly well.

£550 seems a bloody good price for the fun you will get from this car.

Good luck with the sale mate.

Cheers! Most of the ones around this price are hanging with rot but this one is (now) very tidy.

If my saab turns out to be totally borked, as it seems it might, I'll be tempted by that

I'll try to get some more pictures of it once I can get it outside in the daylight.

Tempting non rusty cheap car is cheap, non rusty and tempting.

Looks like a lovely honest tart. If first car insurance wasn't so rapey, I would be introducing the Mrs to this, forcefully.

My mate's missus had one of these in her young free and single days and she's regretted selling it ever since.

Looks worth £550 all day long.

I don't know the exact wording but there's definetely a note on the front of the v5, which highlights it's been bumped.

twitchy twitch on this.. I'm gonna ring the mechanic later this eve and find out the state of play on my saab. If its out of commission for much longer I think I'll buy this... The 263,000 mile K reg 900 he's given me to run about meantime is properly hanging by a tack, exhaust is held on with cable ties and the lights pulse on the dash constantly thanks to a buggered alternator. Don't like my chances in getting to work successfully for much longer

1/10 for acuracy on my advert. To start with it's a W reg not a V and it's done 93k and not 104k or what ever other bollocks I mentioned earlier on.

I've maybe lined up a swap on a 325 BMW but I could probably do with the cash more so here's some more picz.

If you sell rather than swap I'd be interested to hear about the 325......

Oops. Sorry M'coli, I really should keep an eye on my own for sale thread. Haven spoken to the lad the BMW I'm going to try to give him first refusal on a swap as I quite fancy it.

If that doesn't work out I'll let you know.

Seacow, have you seen this? The 328i's are great cars and other than a bit of arch grubbyness (and possible interior steam bath problem()this looks alright. Full SH too.
