Not sure about these being approved banger fodder, although they do feature in banger computer games!

Top save, it really does look a like a fun motor to smoke about in!

Nice motor! I had a H reg'd 2.0 CDi auto a few years back, it was a great motorway mile muncher. After a Cavalier mk3 it was a big step up in quality too!

I do like a Carlton. They just have a nice feel to them somehow. As others have said, that one looks a fuggin bargain. I've never seen one later than an L plate either - must have sat around unregistered for a while, as you could get the Omega on an L. Either way, nice purchaseage.

Really glad you saved it Billy.

I stuck the link up on the AS facebook site as I thought it was prime for one of you to rescue.

I was worried that with it being so cheap it might end up around a track or just weighed in after someone bought it as a 'runaround' until the tax ran out.

My cousin was offered one a year or so back for less than scrap value. It was a low milage one too off some old fella but he passed it up and some local yoofs got hold of it, ragged it half to death around a field, and then weighed it in.

I was gutted as if he had told me I would have bought it - just to save it.

Nice one Rob, much appreciated.

I came to work in it today. The immobiliser is a right faff but I'll get used to that. Still no movement on temp gauge so it was farking freezing inside (no hot air) but hoping its something easy like the 'stat. My lad will be about this afternoon de-chaving his Corsa so with a bit of luck he can look at the Carlton

It's ace to drive and seems quick off the mark, but then I'm used to a 1.9 diesel with no turbo.

I had a GSi 24v one of these for a year. Damn good car. I borrow a 2.0 estate one when I need a car to use in Czech.

Not bad crates at all.

The heater going cold would worry me, but not for £200 top shiteing.

Got a new thermostat and temperature sensor thing before. The gauge has been proven to work (earthed against something iIrc) so now it's just waiting for it to get light again tomorrow to fit said parts, then see what happens.

Whilst in the parts place a lad in there getting spares mentioned his mate having a rotten GSi Carlton he's breaking for parts. I tried to see if he'd sell it complete but he won't have it. Seemingly it's only done 30,000 miles or something from new, but it was left outside and slowly just fizzled away.

'stat and temp sensor fitted today. We now have a working temp gauge and lovely hot air in the car!

EVERY DAY IM SHUFFLING.

Right, it's sadly time to move this on now. V5 here in my name, car taxed and tested so can be driven away if you're insured. Pm me please, it will be very fairly priced to a 'shiter ;)

I'm surprised you're selling this, I thought this was one of your dream motors.
