Some shots from last year's Bo'ness hillclimb.

All taken from the same spot cos I could not be arsed to move.

Good shots, strange to see such clean looking rally cars. Normally when you see them on the telly they're caked in shit!

I only remembered this was on, at the last moment, last year. Thankfully, it was 10 minutes away from the job I was on, and finishing time was just after lunch. So I toddled down, and got something of a fright, being charged a tenner to get in! I told the guy I only wanted to park up, and watch the racing, not compete. I left.

I wouldn't mind a crack at sprinting, but seeing the amount of work that's gone into that Manta, at a place near me, I'm fairly sure I haven't got the budget! Maybe the Autoshite approach might be a breath of fresh air for the scene...

I competed in the Fintray / Doune hillclimbs many moons ago...

Reckon it can be done on a budget - But not if you want to do well...(As with all motorsport... )

FWIW Doune's fecking scary in the wet. Plenty of people end up in the trees (search youtube for evidence!)

A few years back it was only a fiver to get in. Last time I went (2011) it went up to £10. Never went back this year incase it was £20!!!

Good day out though. No modern stuff at Bo'ness, just stuff from early 1900's to early 80's.

The fezza does Bo'ness as well! Always think it is a wee bit out of place & a bit big for Bo'ness.

Yep, my mate thought the same....

Modifications: a good clean, some EBC pads ( were needing done anyway ) timing strut, on/off sticker next to the ign key and some sticky on numbers. DONE.

EDIT: vid from Photobucket.

Last year, I got the notion that a Proton Satria Sprint might make a good sprint/hillclimb car. Mostly because there was a rough, but T+T'd one, on Autotrader for £300! Ideal fodder for the beginner - quick enough to be fun, small enough to fit between the barriers at Doune! Plenty of 2nd hand rally spares, and tuneable, when the inevitable bug bites.

Other than those, and certain Alfas, there must be plenty of other junk-racer choices. I could quite fancy a Volvo 854 T5 for shit'n'giggles, but it might be a bit big for some of our tracks...
