Spotted a Brizzer this morning

Don't see many of these out in the wild, loving the Hunter tail lamps. This one's getting a backie on the M25.

I still haven't given up on the idea of owning a Bristol one day. Just need to sort out the high income somehow and I'll be straight on it!

I drove a late '60s V8 one a few years ago. They really are rather good.

I'd have one, and driven sensibly it'd do 17-18 I reckon.

A bloke I know had one years ago, a Blenheim 3S IIRC, and he got sick of people asking him what his kit car was based on!

Looks a bit like a Ferarri 250GT2+2. I was going to say in a kit-carish sort of way but maybe it came from the same design studio. Just don't take it to Belgium where even architects can be sued for plagiarism (source Jonathan Meads).

Mind you I wouldn't kick it off of my driveway and would even buy Mrs D a silk headscarf so she could be seen out and about in it.

Brizzle's choice of rear lamps was always somewhat... esoteric... 8)

Super Minx, Arrow, Beta Spyder, Bedford CF  , Senator...

Yay! Bristols are deffo the ultimate posh-shite.

Does anyone else think the '80s/'90s one (I forget the name) looks like a mkII Escort?

I've always had a hankering for a Bristol so that I justify looking like LJ Setright, legendary CAR magazine journalist, Bristol fanatic and all-round know-it-all. This slightly tatty but solid example went at Bonhams recently for just under £6k. Turbo Chrysler V8 power and MKII Escort rear lights? Yes please.

I would like to have a go in one of these one day. I love the thought of some rich fella buying one new and then being horrified that the rear lights came off a Bedford van!

Thats the one on the truck, the Britannia.

The modern equivalent of which would be telling a Bentley Continental his car's based a VW Phaeton.

I'm sure you can hammer the Esky ones into place with enough effort.

My mate has a V10 diesel PhatOne, it's awesome. And it was cheap.

There have been a few threads in the past with all the lights ripped off cheaper models. I am not going to link to them I made a dummkopf of myself on one of them, by saying that the Aston Martin Virage had upside down Scirocco rear lights when in fact they were the right way up, despite having a Scirocco on the drive at the time of writing.

In my defence, I did not have an Aston outside.

There is the Jaguar XJ220 and the Rover 200

And so on. Noble, Lotus and Caterham are a few off the top of my head. I reckon they got Fred from the production line at Longbridge etc to rob a couple of boxed of bits on his way out of work one night and hammered them onto their 'new' cars.

Rover 200 dash vents and heater controls in an XJ220 as well. And the engine from a MG Metro :D

Ha ha! Yes it does doesn't it.

Have you ever looked inside a 6R4? It has a standard Metro dash in it with a few extra dials.

Was expecting something a little more special TBH.

I was lucky enough to be taken round Nutts Corner Rallycross circuit by Denis Biggerstaff in his P&O 6R4, multiple winner of the British Rallycross Championship, while being chased by a 700BHP Escort Cosworth, driven by another Champ, Dermot Carnegie. I didn't really notice the dash - I had my eyes closed and was praying! We had a bit of an after-party later that night, and Denis handed me a treble brandy - "You look like you need this, kid!"

Quickest thing I've ever been in on the road was a Computervision 6R4. Mental acceleration.
