Monthly Scotoshite meet at Armadale last Wednesday of the month.

They should really rename Cumbernauld as Volvograd.

Whats happening to Broadwood farm? is it closing?

Not quite; in true AS fashion, we are the first forum collectively barred from a carvery.

Posted

How did you manage that? Please tell me it was car related!

Sadly not; despite booking a table for at least twelve in advance and having been going on the last Wednesday of every month except December for eighteen months, they didn't keep any meat back; we had a choice of pork or pork and no yorkshire puddings. The turkey had about half a dozen slices left, no ham left at all. In previous occasions the manager had kept meat back for us and the service was excellent. Naturally concerns were voiced and the night ended earlier than planned after were the asked to leave the venue.

Another Autoshite first!

Was thinking of coming down to this, but I knew I wouldn't have the time. Wish I had now...

Defo another time, maybe in the summer. Are you going to keep it fairly central?

The general consensus, although not 100% set upon, is that the next meet will be the Toby Carvery at the Raith Interchange - M74 J5 at the Strathclyde Park exit.

Was a good night all in even if we did spend a good hour or so in the car park freezing cold rather than in the warmth. Was also good to see some new faces in the form of derek9213 and his mate Grant along with some long absent faces (aldo and Richard). Here's hoping subsequent meets go as well as previous ones have.

Anyways lets see how my shots turned out...

We also decided to have our first ever group people shot seeing as it was something of a memorable evening. So from left to right, we have:

Richard

aldo135

derek9213

Marelle (cms206's other half)

nuttyhk

Ian (nutty's other half)

derek's mate Grant

cms206

Spiney Norman

Like the photos! You don't even look flustered after your mad dash to get in the team photo Dave!

Thats piss-pauvre service from the place, so much for looking after regular customers.

Toby Carvery it is :-)

Sooo many Volvos though! Sadly, if an offensive were to be mounted at the next meet by one of those 'foreign' makes, a small Spanish-built Opel badged as a Vauxhall would not be sufficient!

Good to meet you guys, it was quite a fun night. :)

The thinking now regarding the venue is that one of the things that was right about the Broadwood was its location. It's pretty central to most of the West of Scotland crew who usually form the bulk of the turn out, while still being easily accessible for the strange furreners from the Far East should they wish to join us.

Therefore the thinking now seems to be that we move just literally two roundabouts over and give the Craigmarloch Lodge a shot.

a little bit of background on craigmarloch mate

that was the one we went to first(whilst looking for broadwood farm), its right beside a large tescos, im not sure if it was a typical wed night but the car parks not that big and was pretty full when we were there

Posted

Aye was a good night. I'm away on holiday next month but happy to go with the flow anyway with regard to location. Get yourself barred from Craigmarloch in April and I'll see you at strathy park Toby in May!

This might be a silly question but why on earth did they bar you for complaining about the fact they didn't have enough food for a pre-booked group?  That seems an odd way of doing business!

Posted

They (incorrectly) accused us of being abusive and swearing to staff so it just kicked off from there

I'm definitely going to come to this one of these nights, ideally when I have the cortina in a couple of months. I feel turning up in my ZT is a bit of a cop out!

Right it's almost that time. Only a week to go. So what's the consensus, shall we go for the Craigmarloch Lodge as previously discussed? It's only 2 roundabouts up the road from our previous meeting place however parking may be a bit tight for a whole contingent of mentally handicapped car enthusiasts.

Posted

It seems to fulfil the 'handy for everyone' tag, are there any other bargain eateries in the neighbourhood?
The parking does look a bit tight but there's always Tesco across the road if there's any over-spill.

Craigmarloch Lodge then? It does seem best as despite being Cumbernauld, Cumbernauld is quite handy for everyone.

Posted

Last bump for this. Who's in?

I take it we're giving the Craigmarloch a whirl then, has anyone phoned up and warned them or are we just going to descend like a horde of ravenous, mostly Volvo driving ravenous things? :)

Posted

Craigmarloch is indeed being whirled as I rung them earlier and booked so shall see you all at the usual time.

Be there or be some sort of equal sided rectangle.

Myself and SWMBO will also be late as she is working until 8; sadly being a mental health nurse she's got to deal with bigger dribbling fuckwits than us :(

Posted

Well, we came (some via elsewhere cos I got lost), we ate, and we agreed it was good. So we'll be back next month, May 28th for scran and whatnot.

Good times!

All cars are welcome. It's not really a meet just a social thing. We've even had folk without cars turning up.

I gathered that- sorry, was just trying to join the "cool boxy 80s estate car" gang;)

What date is it in June, and was a location finalised?

Cheers

It always occurs on the last Wednesday of the month and I believe the new fixed location has become the Craigmarloch Lodge but could someone from the previous meeting confirm this as I was too busy being in Sweden at the last one.
