I remember sitting in one when the Scottish Motor Show was held at the secc!. I jumped into a Ax on the citroen stan donly to discover that everybody else was avoiding it like the plague as in th epassengger seat was a citreon rep!. Albeit a very attractive one at that!

Likewise. I was hoping to see your MK1 estate, but the stripey one was just as interesting.

there's a beige G plate 19RD still running round Gloucester (Tuffley to be precise). Unusual colour now - I don't remember seeing many about even when they were new in that shade.

Good stuff!! I don't really know of any others apart from my beige beauty and a guy in the CCC who apparently has a beige GT. Not a popular colour, even when new.

Spotter fact. The official Citroen name for the colour is Blanc Creamant. It is not as dark as the hearing aid beige on Allegros etc.

I'll try get a piccie of it next time I see it out.

Oh yes, the SECCCCCCC motor shows! As a young shitter that was a not to be missed! I remember being on the Citroen stand in what I think was 1988 and meeting the great Mark McManus of Taggart fame. Got my piccie taken with him and his autograph on a BXGTi flyer. As a young laddie I was well pleased that day. Sitting in CX's and meeting Detective Chief Inspector Taggart!!!!!

Welcome, i used to love going to the secc motorshows aswell !

I went quite often too - remember the disco launch and the Suzuki cappuccino - I loved them, and could just about sit in one too.

oh, just remembered the very first BX I went to buy was a C reg turbo diesel in beige. It had just been sold so bought a D plate Mk2 17RD instead - D328 PUS - both from Citroen Glasgow, down next to the SECC.

Perhaps i am looking threw rose tinted glassses, but i always remember the shows at the Secc as being very busy esp on the Saturday and Sunday. Volvo had a video interactive stand once if i remember where you put on a helmet with dark visor attached which you were supposed to drive a Volvo i think! I remember when Daewoo was launched in Scotland or it was the first Scottish show that they had attended, even the Skoda Favourit our local dealer had on display when that was launched!. I remember a japanese gentleman taking a great deal of interest in the engine of one of the Rovers one year. He was taking pictures when one of the Rover guys on the stand came over shut the bonnet and moved him on!. Ahh happy memories.I wonder how many if any of the show cars from over the years still survive?

I can remember going to the motor shows in the Kelvin Hall! ey1hg.gif

^Me too! Their like will never be seen again

Didn't some of the exhibits used to be in a warehouse, down at King George V dock, or somewhere around about Finnieston way? Sure I remember buses being run from the Kelvin Hall to there and back. 'Cos due to my smallness (I could've only been about 5 or so), I got trapped on a bus 'cos I couldn't get past all the big people!

The Kelvin Hall shows used to be ramjammed, and iirc, there were 'special exhibit' areas with racing cars, hot rods (Nick Butler's Andromeda being one) and all sorts.

The SECC shows were good to start with, and I had the pleasure of helping set up the Vauxhall stall a couple of times. Once the event organisers did away with local garages representing their marques, I felt it all got a bit bland.

Anyway...who's all going up to Lathalmond on Sunday?

Awww...bless! Wasn't that one of Graham Cordiner's trucks? He ran out of Aberdeen (iirc) and had some epic paintjobs on his Scannies.

I know I've got a picture of Leyland's Roadtrain convertible about somewhere, from around that time, but I'm not finding it. Damn.

To be honest, I've no idea who owned the truck or where they were based.

I don't really remember going to that show.

I've got a few snaps of the 85 motor show, might stick them up sometime, but from what I remember the only car that interested me at the time was the Countach on the Dicksons of Perth stand, so not very shite!

Got a picture of that, and the Jalpa next to it somewhere. Again, can't find it. I've posted these before, but have a couple that I can find...

I remember not being happy one year as my Gran and Papa who took me didnt want to wait in the q outside as it was miles long!. I had forgotten aobut the commercials being there. I was a tad smaller in height but they always seemed massive to me at the time anyway!. A Bedford Rascal however i remember sitting in was decidely cramped. How they managed to stay upright on the road going round corners i will never know!.I wish i had kept all the car brouchers i collected over the years. I had a Lancia broucher on my bedroom wall amonst others. I remember i had a large one with the Montego white as it was called. Mg Montego which was complety white. Bumpers wing mirrors spoilers etc erc were all white. I got older my mum said bin them you dont need them read them or anything. AAAAArgh how much would i get for them at Autojumbles or flea bay now! Wjo could possiblay resit a genuine show room broucher for the Lancis range including the Thema, Y10, The Dedra!!! Who in the Lancia Uk marketing thought that Dedra would be a good name for a car! I d still like one though even a Thema be nice! I saw a silver Thema in Kilmarnocj last year still on the raod. Nearly drove into a lampost in shock!
