Door handle I.D please

Help. This handles off my MK1 Ibiza. Still operates the door -but the bracket by the lock has snapped off -so I thought a replacement would not go amiss.

Looks identical to the early VW ones- so ordered one up -but it isnt.

Mine bolts were there's hook ,and the linkage is all different -despite being in the same moulded handle.

Here's mine:-

So -whats it off please, cos I refuse to believe its specific to an Ibitsa only!

Ta -muchly.

I think this happened to wor Lass’s Ibiza back in the day, and i’m sure I repaired with with bits from the VW/Audi handle. it was sufficiently similar to be able to cobble something up. It was a long time ago though and my memory is pretty dire at the best of times!

Appreciate it may sound stupid Nigel, but are all VW ones the same? That looks very earlier breadvan Polo to me but also sure the 1989-ish Passat I once owned had that style of door handle too, so wondered if there may be a couple of different ones.

If you get stuck then Craig at Chadwicks Car Breakers, Bretton nr Chester might be worth a go. I think he posts out but if he doesnt and has one in give me a shout and I'll sort it for you.

Jacksons car breakers Ewloe might have one too, again could post if you're stuck.

Thanks all.

Meggersdog -good spot. How did I miss that? But £21 for a door handle on a car costing £100 seems harsh. its a good last resort though.

Testes- I've got a Mk1 Golf one. Same moulding but totally different. I've spent some time studying the mechanism to swop over- but I cant see' the join'. Its totally different, sadly

Cavvy -cheers. If thats the option -I might take you up on it.

There are, as has been pointed out, slight differences between Polo and Golf handles while looking superficially the same. It does look very Mk2 Polo, if I had a spare I'd send it your way but I won't have spares until I've got the Allegro handles fitted.

Every VW one I've seen has a hook fitment -as opposed to my bolt fitting. Makes more sense really -the bolt's a mare to get too

Peter- yep, they look the same ,but yours is hook fitting (all the ones on Ebay, anyway). You wouldnt know if you'd never had cause to remove it.

Cheers though- there has to be another vehicle with these fitted -just need to find it!

Think all the Golf ones I remember have inserts so bolt from the outside?

Remember some having chrome inserts so they'd be pretty early models too.

Nah. I've bought one -so speak from experience. One screw at the back of the handle -common to both (mines snapped off) but all the VWs have a hook- mine has a bl**dy bolt. madness

Sadly, tried that too . Virtually every Ibitsa ad is 'Gran Bretagne'.

Gonna have to bite the bullet & shell out for a newbie. Doubtless I'll find out shortly after I've stumped up.
