Parson Drove (EDIT for clarification: SPOTS)

Did anyone go to this, or were you all at Shitefest? I'll just leave these here anyway - my BX absent from this lot, I hid it in the general parking so it didn't accidentally win shed of the show.

It stayed dry. I even got sunburn! The light was terrible, my HTC has a terrible camera and I'm a terrible photographer. However, I think most of these actually look like vehicles.

Mostly Olde and not-so-olde English, American and German cars and a world domination bid from the Toyota Celica club. Apart from the tiny weeny Citroen contingent, rest of Europe very absent. Anyway, I had a lovely time pottering around.

Mk1 GT - 6K mileage "barn" find. Looks like new, inside and out, no fading on any of the plastic, beautiful car:

Winnah! (Best in show - I was surprised, with all the other better known "icons" there, I really thought the DS would have been called down to the prize giving area for Best Classic and one of the early Fords or an aged Austin would have won Best in Show. DS really deserved it though, it's immaculate.)

Would have been rude not to take a pic of these:

... quite a scratch on n/s/f wing sadly

Now THIS is a proper Beetle, with genuine rust and everything

Just ... whoa

My dad was a member of the pre-1940 Triumph Owners' Club, who always used to rather sneer and look down on MGs. Dad, in the unlikely event you ever see this, I'm sorry. But I actually always rather liked them.

Yes, I KNOW this is Autoshite, but but but but but ...

Just ... cute!

Well, hello you little minx ... 60K on the clock, as shiny as it looks, guy said he was the second owner and had acquired it only a few weeks previously. Yes, I did call him a lucky bastard

Gas guzzler shite:

Bring me dalmations NAO

I did very like the Pontiac ... others are a Mustang and Chevy Chrysler for those who are squinting to tell, or who like me would need sight of the badges on the back to be 100% sure)

Nice selection. The beige Allegro is stunning, as is the little Datsun 4-door!

That mkI BX looks astoundingly clean.

What 'do' was this?

Story's here - tl;dr - belonged to old guy who crunched it, garaged it, died recently and it went to auction. Repairs done, obviously, and because it had been well-stored, no trouble getting it recommissioned: it's a runner.

Parsons Drove Classic & Custom Car & Bike show - annual I believe, first time I've been. Didn't take any bike pix 'cos I know fuck all about them except that they have 2 wheels instead of 4. Some of the mods were feckin' 'orrible - but it was a real nice mix of vehicles.

Ace collection of pix there! Just one small thing.... a "Chevy Chrysler" is like a Ford Austin, ain't gonna happen. What you were looking at was a 1973 Chrysler New Yorker (I think, could be slightly astray there). For a 1973 Chevy, just watch Live And Let Die, they must have used hundreds in that.

They should ask for their trophy back. The reason that DS looks brand new is because it is. Built from available spares collected from all around the world at considerable expense to the owner (over 100K) who is taking the piss out of all the other poor sods who work hard to get their OLD cars up to a similar standard.

 - I could have sworn it had both badges on, but it's highly likely that I got it confused with something else, really not good on US cars. Here's a closer up pic of it anyway, nicked from photobucket of someone else in CCC who was there

Cracking range of cars there, I went "Phwoar" at the Ferrari, then "Phwoaaarrrr" again at the Cherry!

Thanks for sharing those pics, it looks like there was all sorts of cars there.

The Cherry is the pick for me with its interesting styling details, but the Chrysler New Yorker looks fab too!

I've just blown that up to read the badge on the front wing (and failed). I now think it might be a Newport, it doesn't look like it says New Yorker. Still a lovely thing to see though, and although the Newport was lower down the range, it'll still be pretty plush in the way 70s Yanks are :D
