Maldon Motor Show 1/7/12 (Pic heavy)

Today I had nothing to do so took my A35 along to the Maldon Motor Show which is held every year at Promenade Park in Maldon. I met up with BMC Dan there and we had a good time, snapping shite and laughing at the type of fruitcake this kind of event inevitably attracts.

Nicely worn 101, this was the more original of two FC's there.

Sadly, this was also covered in tat (you'll have to take my word for it though as the owner was constantly hovering).

I'm not sure what this was, I was going to take a picture from the front then that group of OMG OSF Essex 'scenesters' appeared and started talking about RS Fords, immigrants and if the car in front of them was or wasn't a Lotus. So I didn't.

SAM_0578.jpg

This was fucking awful.

Sneaky shot of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club and their rather posh gazebo.

Great stuff there, Trabi is my favourite.

I see this show ticked most of the boxes including:

- soft toys decorating the cars

- write up about the car done in the first person AS IF IT WERE ALIVE

- 'private' tents for elitist marque clubs

But a new one for me is the custom picnic tables. Are they a common thing?

WTF man. WTF.

That Lightning McQueen Spitfire makes me really angry. What possesses these people?

Those are NEXT LEVEL picnic tables man! I've never seen one with the owner's names carved on there too, usually it's just the reg and make/model. The craftsman* who makes them is obviously getting a bit fancy.

Anyway, great report lads, 27.5/10 or thereabouts. Love the "angry" Dicky/ Triumph shot and the Peerless, Bond, Panhard, Simca etc etc....
