Bromley Pageant 2012 - Pictures!

Despite not bothering to study the directions, I arrived at Bromley about 8.30am after tagging behind a trailored Nash Metropolian on the A20. I bounced into the field and straight past the 'one make parking' section for Austin before being pointed back where I came from, eventually finding home next to a couple of Frogeye Sprites.

Cars were arriving thick and fast and before too long a familiar Maestro appeared. It was BARRETT, GARYCOX and an Autoshite lurker, nice to meet you guys.

I headed off towards the main showground and stumbled across a wonderful collection of Renaults,

Firstly this Renault 8

bromley183.jpg

French registered Renault 5 Turbo

I was chatting to the owner of this Renault 20, apparently he bought it for parts but it ended up as another project. He also has a gold Renault 30 with over 300,000 miles!

bromley191.jpg

bromley189.jpg

bromley190.jpg

Parked next to it... another Renault 20! Same car, slightly better condition

bromley192.jpg

bromley193.jpg

Unusual colour on this Renault 12, a great looking car though

bromley195.jpg

bromley194.jpg

Alpine

bromley196.jpg

Whilst I was photographing the Renault 20, some Autoshite GOLD snuck in and plonked itself next to the Renault 8....

…A FACKING RENAULT 6!

bromley197.jpg

bromley200.jpg

bromley198.jpg

It was so wonderfully tatty too. I thought nothing could top that.... until I spotted this Orange delight

bromley201.jpg

bromley204.jpg

bromley205.jpg

... the best part being the matching interior, still retaining the blanked stereo panel

bromley202.jpg

The Horizon was back up by these honeys

bromley206.jpg

bromley208.jpg

It appears someone has pulled this Avenger out of Onslows front garden. Piss-poor paint, welded plates on the front valance, pudding everywhere - it's brilliant!

bromley209.jpg

bromley210.jpg

bromley211.jpg

A handful of Fiat 131 Mirafioris were nice to see

The rear number plate on this was an interesting one, firstly I noticed the address was local to me - Medway - but then I looked a little closer....

bromley235.jpg

... and spotted the name of the dealer.....

bromley236.jpg

.... I wonder if there is a load of ink stained cash in the boot? The owner spotted me snapping the plate and knew why, apparently I'm not the first. If you have no idea what I’m waffling on about, google ‘Tonbridge heist’

A couple of MAXIs a few cars along from the Allegro. It’s here I bumped into another Autoshite member, JOZZA. He convoyed to Bromley with the guy in this lovely maroon example. I was privileged enough to sit in the drivers seat, operate the sunroof and have a nice poke about. I loved it, one of my favourite cars there. Stupidly I didn’t take any better photos though…

bromley265.jpg

bromley269.jpg

After chatting to JOZZA and his Maxi driving pal (sorry I forgot your name) I headed towards a lovely MK1 Vauxhall Cavalier I had spotted earlier, but became distracted by this Sherpa Coupe. It stood out like a sore thumb because rather than being the usual concours chromed up MGB, it was a hand painted bodge job of epic proportions….

bromley276.jpg

bromley275.jpg

…. There was blue paint everywhere, the chrome, the number plate, the grill, the tyres were all covered in the stuff. I bet this got right up a few peoples noses.

Found the Mk1 Cavalier. Absolutely superb….

I liked this tatty Triumph, ‘hood ride’ and ‘Ratluk’ stickers kind of ruined it for me though…

bromley286.jpg

bromley288.jpg

I remember this bonkers ‘Mugen’ Triumph Acclaim from Pride of Longbridge. I listened in to the owner explaining his modifications to all those ‘admiring’ his handywork. Very enthusiastic, but clearly a total fruitcake…

I’m just going to dump a few…

A veritable feast of pics :D Nice work Alex.

Hi

Nice pics! Now I have spotted myself on Autoshite in pic 1 in white shirt and shades in front of the burger stall! Was a good day but the round trip from Manchester in a K11 Micra with a hangover is not to be recommended.

Great pics Alex! Wish I could have been there

Wow, great set: there's certainly something for everyone there (and lots for me)!

Absolutely superb pictures, cheers for sharing.

'Pic' of the bunch? The Mirafiori Sport: that car is actually sexual!

Posted

I’m loving the 'six-way' headlight gimp masks on the Mugen Acclaim. The unmistakeable sign of someone who has lost all grip of reality!

^:-)^

Also: the laminated handwritten notes on the Grand Marquis de Sade.

Brilliant pics, Alex, even though our shite IT at work took forever to download them. The orange Horizon was the same one I saw in Germany last month and I do believe the Alpine belongs to Richieg of this parish.

I haven't been to Bromley for yonks but it is a superb show....I really must make more effort. Funnily enough, I'm not into Minis at all but that unmolested little City really appealed! The green Renault 12 was superb aswell.

Did you talk to the old bloke with the mint Granny? He's quite a character! He will regale you with the tale of how that Granada was the first one to be sold in the UK to a woman!

Any sign of those bespoke picnic tables with the matching reg numbers on? It's not a proper show without one of those.

Nice to meet you briefly Alex! I will stick a couple of pictures up in a separate thread I think to save from melting everyone's bandwidth

A brilliant set of photos Alex- they really cover everything that was on offer. It was great to meet up with you and get the guided tour of the Allegro. Ed The Maxi Owner was very flattered by you declaring his machine to be "the coolest car I've ever seen" :D

Excellent set of pictures Alex. It was good to meet you on Sunday, decided it was about time I joined the forum and said something...if not just to say thanks for your kind words about the Maxi!

Fantasic work Alex, I do love Bromley, Last years was a bit pants as it rained most the day so the turn out was rubbish and everyone buggered off home early, this years show looked miles better!.

The car of the set for me though is this Firenza, that is perfection in my eyes!

bromley358.jpg

Also I had a chat with the Renault 30 owner last year, he had owned it since 1986 and covered 311000 miles by that point!

Splendid pictures. Renaults weren't they just so stylish back then? What went wrong?
