Is the new Transit made by Hyundai? If it's not, Hyundai should sue...

No? The flared wheel arches, the waistline, the little "angle" at the bottom of the windows - repeated on both vans at the panel nearest the back. They struck me as being very similar.

 

Who cares anyway? Ford haven't made a decent Transit since the 90's. Their rustproofing's improved a bit but other than that, meh.

I quite like the new Tranny, looks good. Admittedly like every other Ford, but I suppose that's the point of a "family face" and harks back to the late 80s, with the Mk4 Escort/Mk2 Sierra/Granada/Mk? Transit all having the same front end.

 

That Hyundai, on the other hand, looks like some sort of chinese knockoff - not of the Transit, but of something. It's ugly, underwheeled/overarched and reeks of desperation to have a "new" van. I'd trust a tradesman far more in a three year old Transit/T35/Sprinter than that thing.

I like the new Transit, as ever it's a little over styled but only on the sides. Can't help but wonder if that's not an awkward shape for signwriting. VW Caddy probably the ultimate van in that regard.

Good point about the sign-writing. Mind you, will allow designers to come up with 'wacky' new graphics I s'pose.

 

Enjoyed the little Transit news piece though. Scary how many they sold in such a short time. 100,000 built by 1968!
