Do we need a running reports thread?

Just a thought really. I was wondering whether a communal running reports thread not unlike those featured in magazines would be a good idea? Plenty of us own cars that are well known to the group but don't have a thread of their own.

Thoughts?

Surely anyone who wants to do a running report ought to just make a thread of their own and update it as and when, if you put them all in the same thread its gonna be a right old mix-up of stuff happening in random orders. plus if you condense all that 'content' into one thread its basically 'making room' for loads more rubbish OT threads, like a reverse of what the GOM thread does.

Maybe. I was thinking that freeing up space on the front page might be a good thing and hopefully the thread would encourage more people to contribute when they've done the odd bit of spannering.

I've got a WIP thread for the Maserati that just gets updated whenever I get time to do something on it. Won't something like that do?

Isn't this what the News thread is meant to be?

+1

Also, we can update our own threads on our own cars. I agree with Bol. If we keep stuff condensed in our own threads then it can easily be refrenced. This is why I created the thread for my own car (Well, that and being asked to do so) as I had go through the rigmarole of checking back through the 'News 24' thread.

Personally I prefer the individual threads whether it be 1 person and their cars or 1 thread per car with updates but its all down to personal taste I suppose. I tend to miss most stuff from the News 24 thread depending on how often I am on here.

But yes, I thought that was what the News thread was for.

so... a Readers Rides section?

Edited to add: We'd have to call it Chariots of Ire.

I thought that was what News 24 and the individual car threads are for.

I don't want the posts about my wonderful Leyland 240 by Austin Morris camper spoiled by being interspersed with ones about crappy old Maseratis*, Citroen BX* scrappers or Peugeot 604s*

(*no offence intended to the owners of these wonderful cars, whose threads I love to read)
