The Practical Classics forum has gone down the drain. There's some stupid twat who calls himself ILUVCLASSICCARSFROM1976ON who puts up about 34 threads a day like 'WILL FORD MONDEOS EVER BE CLASSIC' and shit like that. What's worse, he is also 'Kingbasher63' who backs up IAMASTUPIDWANKERWHOLUVSOLDSHIT.

The fox hunting thing on TG was in incredibly poor taste.

Couldn't agree more.

Practical Classics' forum was quite entertaining at times though, because of a couple of knobs. One bloke had a dig at me and said something along the lines of I 'didn't know anything about cars because I drive old Vauxhalls' and I was (apparantly) jealous of him because he drove an old XJS.

Best bit is I think the dangerously bewildered raspberry actually believed it.

I haven't visited the PC forum for some time, mainly as it makes me want to slash my wrists half the time."Is it a classic?" "This is a classic" "This is NOT a Classic" "I want more classics in the mag" is all it seems to be about. I used to find Johnno-baiting a pleasurable past-time though.

Pete, you certainly stirred some activity over there  Mr LEFTSCHOOLAT13 has been a bit quieter over the last couple of days. It doesn't take much to upset the odd one or two members over there either. Its never been the most thrilling place but the odd bit of interest comes out of it.

Purely a lurker 8) It does seem a place for people who put fences round their cars at shows mind....

I spent a bit of time looking at the PC forum, it did seem to be very very dull with far to many marque obsessives and those with the 'that is not a classic and never will be mentality'

I've got a tatty old Barkas, an ancient Skoda, an insanely over-tuned Range Rover, a Tatra 805

My new hero 8) Full marks for the T805, I've had a 603/2 and a 613/4 Mi but at least they were obscure cars you could actually drive. 50mph foot to the boards in the 805 innit? :D What were we rambling on about again? Forums or something? I've never been on the Practical Classics one, I'm mainly on a bike forum, retro rides and this one. I might say that Autoshite is best, but then you'll all get big heads so I won't

They'll do 70 if you do a bit of engine fiddling. Most ex-military ones have the camshaft designed for the radio trucks - which is utterly crap as it's only designed to be smooth at 2500 rpm, power and torque are severely down with that cam. If you fit the cam from a 603 they go quite a bit better. Mine's got the cam from a bulletproofed 603.

This is it as found a year ago.

Here's a gratuitous shot from a couple of years ago when I was hunting for a Barkas. Hopefully someone will get all excited at what's parked next to it...

Yeah here I go again.Just tuned in and seen the 'whats coming this series' bit.The destruction apparently continues- there was a clip of Clarkson in a Marina ramming May in a Lada off the road...It annoys me, I quite like this show otherwise!

Is it just me, or did Jezza's truck look like a Muslim woman in full burka??

It's this one:

Richard Hammond in this month's PC:

"I've received plenty of criticism from old car fans who see us hack classics about, but every time we look for cars we know will get blown up or crashed, we search for the worst examples"

Now that's interesting. The poor guy must be pissed off. But, there's no way I'd sell anything I valued to any TV company!

Yeah, but that was Kwolity though - esp when

"This isn't accurate. I emerged from my high speed head-on impact in what can only be described as screaming agony. I couldn't walk. I couldn't talk. I couldn't think."

His injuries included an index finger that looked like "a burst sausage" and heavy bruising to his shin and back.

So, no change there then on the talking & thinking front....

The in-cab film of that crash throught he wall did look bad....I wouldn't want to do it.

I would be interested to see the health and safety report - driving through a brick wall will be fine, but make sure it is not Hammond!!!!

Don't normally comment on TG threads but have to say all three of them have balls of steel to drive through solid objects like that. Can you imagine what wives said when they told them what they'd done at work that day?

At risk of sounding like a dull killjoy, I just didn't see the point of driving trucks into a portakabin/wall/stack of water bottles ... :?:?

Kids today see Bruce Willis drive a car through a helecopter and get out unscathed and able to cary on fighting, its just not real and we want to show that you cant do that"

Translated as "It makes good telly"

I wish people would learn that when you sell your mint condition, low-mileage Earnshaw Diamond you've spent thousands of pounds restoring to Top Gear, it doesn't matter what emollient words the researcher tells you ('we'll just put it in storage' - lying git!!), it's going to get smashed!

Nice to see the good folk on lada.co.uk told the TG man where he could shove it when he went on their forum last week, though!

Yeah, we did the same over on Easternbloccars.com Unfortunately I believe the top gear twits got their cars anyway through other means.

Yes, but will you please realise when you sell your car - ITS NOT YOURS ANY MORE and if the buyer wants to shred it or paint it pink there is bugger all you can do about it - dont sell it if you are that bothered about it.

You're right, of course - I'm just fed up with seeing people on car forums saying a nice man from Top Gear's bought their car and told them they're not going to smash it up, only for them to promptly smash it up. It's what they do. When will people learn?
Posted

I s'pose if you sell it on ebay, you probably won't know that it's TG that has bought it.

I doubt it was really them driving through the walls etc, they were left on pretty thin ice after the last hamond accident.

My guess is that it will be a 'which car built by communists is best?' challenge. Clarkson will turn up with a Marina saying all BL workers were communists...
