Forensic Photographic Identification Challenge

I was out for a walk the other day tracing the Waverly Line (Train) route from Gala to Stow - inconsiderate bastards took bridges down at critical points and and attempt was made to find a way around and onto the other side of the Gala Water.

This failed miserably...however I came across these wrecks in a wooded area..

Can you identify these motors?

The first one is pretty easy I'd say:

A.

This one is more challenging, i.e. I havn't got a clue..but I think it might have been Japanese..

B.

looking at what's left of the rear light in pic-A, i would say hillman hunter.or MK1 escort.

PIC- B i haven't a clue... hazard a guess at datsun cherry

A -> Filler neck beside the rear 'plate suggests it's a Renner doooze ??

Is there an exhaust stuck out of the numberplate recess of A, what I'd like to assume is an overturned Escort :/

Was drawn to the Hillman Hunter thinking, as they had a filler on the back panel. Renault 12 also seems likely though. No idea what the other thing was.

Another vote for A being a Renner 12, a first generation one with the small rear lights.

Perhaps it's the last surviving Dacia Denem?

To me, the colour is all wrong for the suggestions so far. Plus is that the petrol filler in the rear? That should give it away?

Perhaps I should have been a bit more assertive?

A is a Renault 12.

I'd say renner 12 too, as it appears to have front struts AND double wishbones, plus the rest looks a bit renault shaped.

Sorry Impster - didn't mean to induce pink-facedness. Got me at it now.

I can narrow down massively exhibit #B by saying that it is, er, rear wheel drive. I spy leaf springs and long-travel dampers, and is that a steel fuel tank? when did they stop making those?

When I walked up to the remains, that was the first car that came into mind but the fuel filler threw me off.

Next time I'm down that way I'll take a few more snaps on a real camera - those were on my phone.

A..identified.

B.. The only recognisable bit is the bumper. Steel with attached end caps.

Find what that is from and it's all over

Posted

B is definitely a Datsun - that shape of fuel tank was in most of them (I have two so I recognised it instantly!) and sits behind the rear seat back.

Initially I thought it was a 710 Violet like mine but the bumper looks a bit too square, maybe a Sunny B110 or B310?

I think....... :?

Yeah, I was also thinking Violet or 140j etc.. as It's quite a square looking wreck.

Wonder if it would be worth putting on eBay for the Irish lads
