Fs: skoda Felicia t/t - £400

I've used this since January to get around including stints down to midlands and back to Wirral.

It will come with a full six months worth of tax (runs out in march) with MOT til September.

Car is very tidy with bubbling on rear arch but otherwise it'll pass a load of mot's and guaranteed* to run forever with it's rattly pushrod skoda 1.3 engine. New car 'forces' sale but I'll either keep it on the drive as a runaround or pass it onto a needy carless friend. :)

Will post pics up if anyone's interested. Car is in Coventry or anywhere in north west on weekend.

Also replaced coolant sensor and lambda and thermostat so heater is unbelievably hot (best car heater I've had).

Also replaced coolant and have new oil and filter which I'll do at some stage. Windscreen has been resealed last month so no longer leaks at bulkhead when it rains ('they all do this etc etc). No faults at all, everything works.

Should've said, the car doesn't have head gasket problems, I was being a bit superstitious about excessive steam from exhaust, but it only happens in the cold weather. No overheating issues, coolant pressurising, emulsification, etc at all. Doing 500 miles a week to and fro' Coventry/Wirral and it runs absolutely fine. The tax runs out this week so will come with 6 months as I am still using it as my runaraaaand, until I can find a new car.

Describing it, I can use all the car selling cliches here:

# The driver's side rear arch is showing rust bubbling, but a rub down with sandpaper and rattle can, and it'll look fine ... but it's never bothered me, no other rust anywhere.

# The ICV sticks (they all do that), so you have to 'nip' the pedal starting it first thing in the morning, but I will sort this before sale, if I have time, which I will have as it's a 10 minute job with carb cleaner,

# The engine can be described as unrefined and rattly (think CVH but with the surrounding car that's actually built well) but it's never bothered me as they all do that but runs absolutely perfectly with no problems,

# I've set the valve clearances, changed lambda sensor and coolant temp sensor/thermostat housing/thermostat (complete unit) for new Skoda ones (thermo unit housing had broken and the thermostat had had it anyway). They all do that anyway, and it did bother me as there blower was cold and it was -2c outside and fuel economy was down.

# Now getting around 40mpg on a run

# It's boring to drive, the turning circle is strangely big for such a small car but this has never bothered me, the ride is actually very, very good, the seats are very comfy and the interior is very, very tidy and quite 'aesthetically pleasing' and well put together. Boot is huge.

More 'they all do that' is windscreen has been sealed, wiper relay has been replaced (had crazy switch setup with 240v wire bodge to stalk).

Comes with all docs/books, MOT's, tool kit, jack, spare wheel, two keys, undesirability, etc and 6 months tax and MOT!

That's a very tidy looking 1996 motor, Station, I do like those, having had experience of 'em in Czech Republic,

could be very tempted if it were a bit closer to Dorset / Cornwall !!

what is the pic of the inner wing / black sealant run all about ?

And the mileage ?? surely not :?: speedo been changed ?? fancy driving it down to Beulieu in April, then you can visit Msr. Bickles at the same time

Took me a while to twig but I think that's the end of the dipstick, showing how un-mayonnaisey the oil is :)

I never thought I'd think this, but that Felica is FIT. It looks to be a total bargain aswell...

I think the mileage is true, it comes with s/h up to about mid-2000's and the rest is covered by MOT certs. First owner did about 3k miles every year.

Yes, that's the dipstick! After another 400 miles to work and back it ran without any problems. I was very reluctant when I bought it, but quickly warmed to it, it has it's little quirks like how big the boot is - you can completely take the rear seats out - I did two trips helping my mate move out using a mk3 Mondeo, it did it in one with the Felicia with same amount of stuff. I know boot space isn't a big selling point, but it's cavernous.

Other than that, the interior is really clean and tidy and body is good apart from rear arch starting.

Comes with long MOT it's just got 6 month's tax on it. :)

I still have this, it's shamefully not getting used much anymore. I'm going to do the drive to work this week as the Fair-rady is costing me too much, but I doubt i'll drive it again after that. :(

It's nothing special, and isn't shite/retro, and you definitely won't pull any birds in it - but let's face it, you weren't going to pull any birds anyway.*

*How about that for insulting any possible buyers. :)

Is that an incline engine cambered forwards? Strange arrangement, the BX is the same but cambered towards the driver.

Posted

I think it's slanted about 20 degrees, I've never noticed that tbh. I always thought all German/Czech cars had slant engines??

Posted

Old Polos had the same arrangment too.

The Volvo is pretty pricey to run, so much as I loathe the idea i'm considering selling it and getting an anonymous runabout that will be mega cheap to run and I can leave parked up without constanty worrying about it getting dented or even looked at- Something I can just get in and drive to work without even thinking about it.

Unfortunately my classic insurance won't cover something like this so I'll probably just stick with my 240!

Just bought another car so this has to be sold, any takers in this fine example of Czechoslovakian something or other?

I wish that there was some way to get that sent here to the USA, cheaper cars are very much more expensive here and often in poor condition - and cars that do good MPG really command good prices here. We looked at importing my wife's 2001 Fabia 16V here but took £800 by selling it on Ebay. There are no Skodas' in the US whatsoever - so would be a great novelty.

Possibly. Someone rang me looking for a cheap car earlier. I'll let you know.
