I loved Dukes of Hazzard when I was little and remember briefly owning a Matchbox size General Lee, which I lost or had pinched at primary school after owning it for a week or so. Amazing how nearly 40 years later I still feel a slight sense of sadness and wistfulness about it.

Yes, the Tonka QUICK GRIP (Ford Maverick) had a tidy-up.  It was decided that there was too much green in the fleet.

The GROUND POUNDER AMC Gremlin also popped over for a look with its now-repaired pull-back motor

Nice to see some Tonka Powered Scramblers making an appearance, not something you see very often these days. Back in the day my brother and I got one each for Christmas and since then they've been sitting in the die cast box with all the Matchbox and Corgi stuff. Having seen the brochure that @flat4alfa posted I now know that they are the Track Blaster and Wind Burner. I'm surprised that the Wind Burner still has its sticker while the Track Blaster's have disappeared over time but it has gained a crudely painted white panel on the back.

Varation Shocker.

when did Super Boss set

Become Super Star set.

And why,

Thought I'd take a closer look.

The Matchbox Dr Pepper set, comprising Kenworth Cabover Racing Transporter, AMC AMX Pro-Stocker and Chevy Van.  All in a 'Dr Pepper' racing team livery (purporting to be from Dallas...)

IMG_0209.thumb.JPG.3547cfb3afe3d8ff35599a2237f8fe5f.JPG

Matchbox Super Star set, comprising Kenworth Cabover Racing Transporter, Chevy Pro Stocker Chevelle Laguna and Ruff Trek Holden.  All in a 'Super Star' racing team livery (purporting to be from Fresno....)

IMG_0208.thumb.JPG.7cc6db129fb509a3092c2dadbbdd8211.JPG

What I hadn't realised is the truck decks were made specific for the load.  The AMC is held by the front axle line while the Chevy is held by the rear wheel wells

Found.  Sold-on a while back, as I already had a tidier van and not interested (at the time!) in Kenworths or MB Convoys in general

So, this set used the same deck as the Super Boss/Star

That Convoy #217 set is superb, and probably the most valuable find after the Generally. All of them are rather lovely though.

What's the Sierra?

Gah!  Just found out that I do have the Pepsi Chevy Pro Stocker after all.. . so it could have gone with the Transporter and Van as a full set and got a better price!  Doh.

Anyhow, it gave the excuse to photograph it

The set was 60p, as each item was 20p.  I felt a bit guilty so gave a bit more, rather than expect change

Got a chance to photograph some more arrivals. Not really my bag, but pull-back Beetle and 2CV are quite amusing

It's a bit gawky, but was only bought for 50p.

It's plastic, approx 1:36 and quite rubbish

But it was only 99p

some more recent additions, both Matchbox and Corgi's this time.

20210909_115527.thumb.jpg.3ca4705dae1cb954cb25157c9adac130.jpg

First off, this Thornycroft and tanker trailer. this is an early Major pack, so that is i think 1958 upto i think 1964-ish? surely this wagon was already obsolete even when the model went on sale! This has been joined with another early Major pack, and this is the first version of the M2 model, its a Bedford S-type with a Wall's Icecream trailer.

20210909_115629(0).thumb.jpg.7a599ac5d68808355f784852f3ae7dce.jpg

which is nice, and i have been able to squeeze it into the cabinet with a big chunk of the "vintage Matchbox". now though, that is just about full. proper full. bugger.....

20210909_115340.thumb.jpg.d3827a0295be4679caf6e30ce3010c58.jpg

i have also added these Corgi's, a Ferrari shark nose F1 racer, and another Routemaster bus. This one has its destination blinds still, something missing off my other one. and it was only a couple of quid to buy,  so, it was frankly too good to leave it in the box of mostly crappy busses that i found it in! i had to buy it to save it!

20210909_115659.thumb.jpg.f10e452fbbcc4cd6a0eb3366d5045d07.jpg20210909_115711.thumb.jpg.898aebea67bde8d924abeaf6c54df872.jpg

that is my excuse and i'm sticking with it, which funnily enough that is also the case with the racer. that is missing its number on its nose, but it has a driver, and  its  windscreen is, mostly complete, as are its roll over hoop and  exhausts.

A lumpy envelope turned up today

It contained two Corgi Rockets wrapped in a very small piece of bubble wrap, which had somehow not got squashed

Only worth 49p now you've unboxed it

in fairness it had i guess lost its original box many, many years ago.

but even so it was too nice just to leave it in a "scrap box" with other shagged out toy busses,

even if its no longer "a mint collectable"

image.jpeg.7e7202570d77dc9acf1e79b73d7c1726.jpeg

still its not in bad nick, its got Stan sat in the cab, ready to "get that bus outta here" with Jack the clippy on the back platform.

 - no wonder Blakey is forever having to chase them!
