Got some Puntos off ebay.

Not sure whether I should complain about the paint blemish /fault on the green one.

I need more Tow Jams now!

Can very likely be arranged...

(Well, I have one anyway that's up for grabs!)

Tonka/Maisto also a new one on me - though I guess MC Toy/Maisto were always pretty accommodating when it came to making Matchbox-sized toys for whoever came knocking. You must have a cracking collection of Maisto and variants by now!

Stick it in the box...

I have got a fair few Maisto and MC Toys now, think the most interesting are the ones that appear as multiple brands or are clearly someone else's casting originally

Please tell me you're de-stickering or repainting the Pooh one?

Mmm... I know what you mean, it may be 'factory fresh' but it's definitely a flaw.

I was pretty annoyed to pay top dollar a few years back for a mint/boxed Corgi Toyota Supra, only to find it had similar blisters along with smudges to the two-tone paint. A manufacturer quality control issue, for sure, but no mention of that in the listing, or shown in the pics (all in the box).

It's possible that the vendor genuinely didn't know about the blister - say, if they're listing a whole load of stuff and didn't take it out of the box - but if you paid a fair whack for it and/or it was unboxed in the listing pics, I think it wouldn't be unreasonable to ping them a query asking them how they wish to proceed with an item not as described - return/refund, or partial refund?

I guess whether you wanted it as a minter or as a basis for a custom might influence how you go forward.

But yeah, tldr - I'd be annoyed at that.

Well, if the other AA vehicles are spoken for, could you set the Corgi Transit tow truck (with hook!) aside for me please, unless it's been claimed via PM?

Also the Corgi FX4 taxi and Matchbox Ford Cargo skip truck, if available!

(Assuming that sending tat to Norn Iron won't spark an international incident these days)

Darn, too slow, I would have liked those 1/36 AA models.  Never mind.

The fx4 isn’t a corgi, sorry.  There’s no brand. The transit and the land rover 110 are the two AA models left. For those three and the skip lorry does £12 posted sound ok?

How much for the ford cargo with skip please?

Sorry, I think you just missed it when I was replying to datsuncog.

Stickers already removed, will be making a replica of mine out of one of them.

I was going to keep the green one fresh and modify the Pooh one, but now I'm not so sure. Oddly enough, the pink one also has a similar (although smaller) blemish on the same side.

That'll do well, thanks! Will PM you with details.

For the sake of clarity I should say the Escort neatly replaces the one in my childhood AA set which had an unfortunate incident with a hammer some time around 1991. I found the rest of the set still boxed a couple of months ago when we moved and hoped I'd come across an Escort singly, didn't think there was much chance of that though. Cheers Jon!

Found a photo if me in 1967, some interweb detective work and Ebay came up trumps (with apologies for the poor turn of phrase).

These days she finds it all a bit tight though

That's not a phrase she uses very often, sadly

Cheers, but I already have a Range Rover - and like Amishtat, I woulda felt guilty for splitting up a set just for the Transit!

While on the subject of Ideal Motorifics, I'll dig out the Plymouth Barracuda and do some photos of the internals?  Will have to wait as young daughter is desperate for a snowball fight in the garden

A bit later, say around 1971 I remember getting two brightly coloured plastic Aston Martin DB6s and a track.

A sort of poor boys Scalextric.

They were battery powered and crap IIRC - but no one else seems to have ever heard of them.

No one?  Shirley not

It’s very likely Tri-ang Magicar

I had a white Police Aston DB6, scale was nearer 1/36.  Wish I still had it, as it’s worth plenty now

Providence took me up to the attic earlier, where lives the Big Box of Cars. The last rummage I had is documented here .

Not much time to play, so I stuck my hand in and scooped up a random assortment of 1:64s.

The Golf came from a primary school bring and buy sale . Would have been 5p or something. It's always been a bit of a favourite of mine, although the shape seems a bit off. It's not as well captured as the Majorette equivalent and it misses that model's opening tailgate (and crossed tennis raquets. Hey, why tennis raquets? Why not golf clubs? Hmm). No suspension, either! In fact I'm not really sure why I like it so much. It just feels like a quality item, I guess.

Looking at it now, though, I'm troubled that I never previously spotted that our upwardly mobile 1976 Golf buyer had fitted the private numberplate FLT878...

20210124_163245.thumb.jpg.e0022786217f4842c8041906df5f3a2b.jpg

...but evidently had yet to replace the front plate, which remains JBV349R. EDIT: Split_pin and DC documented the same observation upthread.

My example only has a few faint traces of where the former bodyside GOLF graphic would have been. Not sure if I'm pleased or saddened by that.

I was always inexplicably attached to this here Renault 11, too. Partly, I guess, for the TURBO script in correct Renault typeface. Partly for its clear headlights. And partly for how resolutely normal it was. If memory serves, it came as a "bonus" car in a pack with several laser-wheeled examples in. Pretty sure it came from Tescos Colchester (Highwoods) as a result of pester power as a nine or ten year old.

And finally, for this particular visit to the box, is a Norev Talbot Horizon that I've had for years but have absolutely no idea how it turned up in my custody. It's short of a right-hand rear wheel, the rear suspension has collapsed and it has severe ride-height issues at the front end, too, and I'm not entirely convinced by its proportions — it seems rather long of bonnet. It's a lovely crisp casting, though, so there's that.
