Looks like yours might have even worse handling than the real ones though with that wonky back wheel😄

Didn't notice the back wheel. Might be bit more tail happy than usual then, or maybe hit some 1:64 cardboard boxes.

The headlights weren’t quite right on the Corgi one. It seems a difficult model to replicate, the Bburago one looks like it’s had wings fitted and filled by Ray Charles.

Just looking to see if I ever did a Capri Who Did It Worst, got the Corgi and Matchbox MK1s together

Matchbox Superfast 54 Ford Capri

Here we go, only had these four at the time

I think my favourite is the Matchbox, perhaps because of the slightly cartoonist proportions. The modern one is quite a good effort despite mismatched pre- and post-facelift ends

Or is supposed to be an RS3100, or US spec? I dunno

I think in the 1:43 range the Vanguard’s Capri’s take the prize for me. They’re all good.

Vanguard’s mk1 & 3 with Minichamps mk2.
The Minichamps mk2 is good but the tail lights are wrong (mk3 type) which lets it down.

Vanguard’s mk2. Excellent but I don’t like the wheels!

IMG_5262.jpeg.5225d363907107e4107eb83664d72da3.jpeg

IXO/Altaya etc mk3 is very good too.

IMG_3087.jpeg.28b1969c1cd1f70b270580307fb65430.jpeg

I can’t remember who makes these ones. Usually comes in a horrible dull grey colour so I re sprayed this one and fitted some sport steel’s!

Corgi’s 1:36 mk3 looks good, as does their old mk1 casting.

I had that Majorette Capri as well. Not sure it came with it but I used it to tow a trailer with a removable canoe on the top.

Looks like the closest, but with full width bumpers and no spoiler. I'd have rather they went with a standard early or late MK1, but at least they did it I suppose, the yanks only knew them as Mercurys.

There's also a sunroof cast in, was a tilt/slide available back then? I've seen the Webasto fabric roof in an early MK1

That's a Details Cars, sometimes branded Corgi.

Various versions all marketed as European versions.

Looks like Matchbox have the old one in the works too.

Edit Looks like the Harley Engine not the Jap engine, so it's the new old one then.

Think I had the orange lwb landy behind the artic horsebox.

Me too. I think it’s one of those Verve of Italy el cheapo one’s they sold at the seaside when I was a yoof. They actually nailed the shape really well, might have copied it from a diecast model but I can’t think what. They were always long wheel base Series 3 two door models with or without a roof and sometimes in US military colours with a gun in the rear load bed.

Oh wow - yes, I think I had one of those as a kid too, in dark olive green but missing the roof and windscreen. Probably a jumble sale find sometime in the mid-1980s.

Thanks for the reminder, I'd completely forgotten about it!

Circling back to small Capris...

Hongwell didn't do a bad job with their 1/72 scale version in the Cararama range:

P1060640.JPG

P1060641.JPG

Lairy RS3100 versions with quad lights, split front bumper, coachline and matt black bonnet.

P1060642.JPG

P1060643.JPG

Lower spec versions with rectangular lights and one-piece bumpers.

Bought from Poundland c.2005, back when all their stuff was still £1 - I kept a basic version in silver and an RS3100 in yellow, but I kinda wish I hadn't split the set up now...

Oxford Diecast do a load of Capris in 1:76 scale with Mk1, 2 and 3 versions available.

I have the Bodie from The Professionals (later episodes) version

I had a rummage in the loft at lunchtime to look at some of my oldest childhood cars. But I ended up bringing this down , which was one I wanted as a kid but had to make do with the Juniors version. I bought this at a swapmeet in the late 1990s and always recalled it being in rough condition:

All cleaned up and apart from some peeling to the stickers and slightly tired chrome, it's really good!

20241223_150121.jpg.6f05cc77d90bafa37b40ee7fee01f7f3.jpg

What a great casting this is, really heavy and detailed.

I had a 1/25 Polistil one but this was so much nicer so I sold the larger model about 10 years ago.

Sweetened the horrors of having to go into Tesco on 23 December (see Grumpy Thread for details) by treating myself to a discounted HW Premiums Honda Civic:

It's a great little casting; I've a couple of these as mainlines already, but the extra detailing really makes it pop.

Looking forward to freeing it later!

Same!

I've nearly bought it in Smyths, B&M and The Entertainer on at least four occasions in the past month, but each time just put it back on the peg...

I knew if I didn't get it now, I never would!
