Thanks, I shall keep a look out.

Anyone know if there is such a thing as a Renault/Dodge S56 or S75 model? I have the EFE Plaxton bus version but that's it.

Fairly sure (well, sureish) that there was one in a fire engine part work series four or five years back. 1:50 scale I think.

It was quite common in the 1950s/60s for firms like Dinky and Corgi to get manufacturer access to still-secret models.   Think the first example was the Dinky Herald - on sale the day the real car was released and available in authentic colours.   It was the same with the Mk 1 Escort which I can remember being in the village hardware store the same day Ford released their version....

It still happens now occasionally. There's been a couple of Norev models that came out before the actual car, notably Renaults and Volvos plus we've had a few 1:18 Maisto models released before the actual car is available. Currently got 2017 Ford GT as an example of this.

And another example - Oxford Diecast have just announced a Discovery 5 and the real car isn't on sale until next year so they must have had some advance info and have the model planned to coincide with the real one.

^ This. Although Oxfords Disco 5 isn't out until next summer and when they announced it they didn't have a preproduction image or anything.

This was common practice in America from the 40s to the 80s. If it weren't for the Promos, which were actually commissioned by the car industry,

we would have seen very few kits, since most of them were based on the promos.

On a different note, think of all the model cars of which the real ones were never made.

JM's comment just reminded me of something else. Didn't Corgi develop a toy Road Rover alongside the real one back in the fifties? Then Rover cancelled the project and all the work on the toy had to be scrapped too so trying to launch your model at the same time as the real car can backfire sometimes.

It even has a Wikipedia entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corgi_Toys#Road_Rover

and there's more here: http://www.bmh-ltd.com/wheelnut/wheelnut_17.asp

Quite a fascinating example of what happens when things go wrong.

Many of the 1/25 scale American promos (and subsequent kits) have inaccurracies, caused by last minute changes made to the real cars.

One example is the 1961 Imperial.

Note recessed lettering on the real car:

maxresdefault.jpg

On the model it's raised:

This is repeated at the rear.

The 1960 DeSoto promo/kit had the wheelarch and sill trim moulded:

On the real car, this was nixed:

You could get it though, at extra cost, so the model is not completely wrong.

I have the earlier incarnation of the Dodge, in pale blue from the same source.  Nice little model!

I have a Vanguards Daimler Sovereign on it's way in Greensand, shame Minichamps Mk1 Capris are so expensive otherwise I'd get one as Terry's car

It's been like Christmas today. I've had more 1/16 scale tanks delivered.

Firstly, a Hooben models Elefant tank destroyer.

This ones a kit so should give me plenty to do over the next month or two. I'll be making a few upgrades on this one, the main things will be a metal gun barrel and tracks to replace the plastic ones in the kit.

I've already got the metal track set.

The tank kit came from Germany and tracks Malaysia.

And next,

Another Torro 1/16 model, this time the even larger Jagdtiger tank destroyer.

This thing is massive and it's heavy too! It's the upgraded metal version same as my Tiger tank with metal tracks, wheels and details, sound, smoke and BB firing gun.

This ones on charge at the mo so this weekend should be good fun if it stays dry outside!

'Arthur is getting Terry to give the mileage a haircut on the Granada, whilst he doctors the MOT certificate in the office' :)

Latest acquisition, an older Vanguards Daimler Sovereign in Greensand, which looks awfully like Limeflower. Added closer shots of the Capri and Daimler. Really liking the new backdrop for diecast chod photos.

Some more assorted stuff from me

Oxford 2CV. Not a great model but I've improved it a bit and changed the reg. You might recognise its new identity and the Alfa behind is not a coincidence.

Here's that Alfa, an old Yatming model I've had for years. Who do we know who owns a 2CV and a silver 156 (and many other things too)?

The hacksaw has been out again. I love the Radford P1800 but I've only ever seen pictures so I couldn't resist making a model of it.

This Amazon swapped wheels with the P1800

Lots of MGB Roadsters but this is the first GT in 1/76 scale

And finally, some modern shit (sorry!)

How much would you want to make me a Radford / Bodyline / Volvoville P1800 with Amazon wheels, please?
The proportions of that Oxford model make it look more like a Renault Caravelle.

I still can't find a Formule 1:43 Xedos 6 BTCC car either.

My local Cash Converters keeps getting a run of Hornby Dublo trains in. There's at least one repro box in there; planning on keeping three and flogging the rest on eBay. They worth owt?

The Dublo stuff can be worth a bit, those ones look in really nice condition too.

I like the old Beatties sticker on the 8F box, didn't they go under a few years ago?

^ Yes we certainly will. No details on delivery dates and whilst RRP is currently £26.99 its worth bearing in mind there might well be price rises in between times. Autoshite discount scheme still available though ;)

Thanks :) I know it all weighs on how little the pound is worth when they arrive.

Mr Lobster - please make that two Vulva 240 estate in red as I would like one to grace my cabinet.
