Another Vinted purchase has been delivered. 

I only really bought them for what I’m guessing is a MK3 Escort front right?

 

Also because, again I’m guessing, this is a full set being 10?

Yes that is High Speed's stunningly accurate recreation of a MK3 Escort 

I don't often revisit my customs, but the windscreen on my Matchbox Corniche was really annoying me. I used the closest fit clear screen I could find, but it just had too much curvature

I've found half a dozen potential saloon donors, and couldn't bring myself to take any of them apart, but eventually I but the bullet and sacrificed a fairly tatty, but complete example, very carefully cut and filed the screen and painted the edge

Buoyed by my success, I took a spare Blue Shark apart, and managed to fit the driver and windscreen into the Scorpion logo one found recently, without having to drill the rivet. Along with a few* paint touch ups thanks to an ancient tin of Revell clear blue, it looks alright now

Daughter No2 (the one with a C4 VTS I made the model of) has been chatting with a colleague and it turns out he has a bit of a die cast collection and she sent me a few few pics which I'm sharing here. It's pretty obvious he's a bit of a V Dubster

Things got a bit confused and I'm not sure what scale this rat look Beetle is (maybe 1/18?), but I think he modded it to look like this

Lastly he has a modded PissHat and Daughter wants me to find a model of it and make it look like his, anyone know what models are available of this gen? I have several dealer model Passats, but all much older

It is indeed the 1:18 Solido, they modified the casting from a split window to look like a 58-62 bug with the larger rear window, but left the 50s "W" engine cover, along with grooved bumpers. Even that weird shaped number plate is a split window era thing they should have updated. Tsk.

At least they updated the dashboard

I had the 'big window' as Solido called it but despite getting a Beetle book covering every model year the same Christmas as I got the 1/18, I still never noticed 🙄

Was it Solido who made the split which was just a convertible with a saloon roof riveted on? I remember there was an ugly join on the c pillar.

I'm not sure about the convertible, but it definitely has a big joint along the belt line in the rear quarter.

Just noticed it has the wrong windscreen too. I'm such a Beetle nerd 🤣

Another Vinted parcel has just been delivered to work. It smelt nice when I opened it 😁

I also need to pop into the local town centre at lunch to pick up a large job lot from one of those shops where you can have parcels delivered. I didn’t want the Post Room guys at work getting fed up with me and my deliveries 🫣

I used to have those exact same cars and they were regulars on my Matchbox playsets as a kid. I always, for some reason, always thought that the red one was some sort of Fiesta or Golf.

I can confirm that you have the full set as far as I know as I remember all of those cars. Same colours too.

The silver one is a Golf. The red is an Escort. I’ve not really studied the others so not too sure what they’re all meant to be but a couple are quite obvious.

I’ve just got back from picking my other parcel up from the shop. I was parked miles away and it was peeing it down 😩

Those High Speed cars show up quite often, they are all of real cars. Filled in rear window is a tell-tale of it being this brand

Finished off another Graffic Traffic. It looks pretty good IRL but now I've taken the pics I can see some problems

I was supposed to be helping a mate today so took the day off, then he didn't need me so I was kicking my heels. Smyths turned up some new Team Transports

Tampo printed seat pattern is a nice, unusual touch

I found a couple of new 10 packs too, so raided the best ones out of them

Celica has damage on the side you couldn't see!

Porsche looks really good in blue

Waiting at home was a box of cars that I wanted a select few from. Corvette isn't as nice as I'd hoped, as I now clearly need to build a second set with the Kenworth Cabover and Ruff Trek after discovering they changed at some point
