For a long while I couldn't find a Hot Wheels redline Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, so I bit the bullet and bought one off eBay. Now I keep spotting them in job lots - this one just arrived

Don't think I've seen any MoY Crossleys lately, not in RAF colours or breakdown flavour anyway... but will keep a look-out.

This Guisval Crossley brewery wagon did show up earlier in the year, though.

No, sorry - the late 90s reissue LWB SIII was a bit ropey paint-wise and the rear door was missing, so I left it.

This example was on for £20, and sold, at the market back in February:

I agree that it's maybe not the finest rendering of the E-Type... but I still reckon you weren't too badly stung for £15.

Blimey, that does make mine look a bargain!

I think you'd be getting your money back at least!

I looked at these on my phone and thought they looked ok, but now I've seen them on the laptop I can see mine is much nicer!

Thanks both of you for making me feel better about this or maybe it just reasures me that it's ok to keep buying tat without knowing what I'm doing haha!

Nope not got that or the Lone Star.

Two months later, you have four of the blighters!

Only got the one back here.  There will be no more.

Which reminds me to sort out the screen for the Lone Star Silver Cloud.  Got two of those, one is rough which donated the boot lid.

Seemed to be scarce to me - only ever seen them in red - surprisingly they did have a long run: 1967 to 1976 yet didn't suffer 'Project Drive' wheels / sealed opening things era

I paid for a job lot off eBay last night, buy it now.

Any 'gems' amongst them (these weren't my era so not fully clued up on them)?

The Lone Stars and purple Matchbox Pontiac for a start!

Red Superfast Ford GT is less common than the white reg. wheels, good to see the roofrack in place on the green Fiat

Any real value to them?

Has the Ferrari Lusso (bottom right), got spoked wheels or superfast wheels? If it has Superfast then it is quite rare.

Looks like the earlier version of the Corgi Whizzwheels R-R Silver Shadow Mulliner FHC, from 1971 on.

And an orange Bender Dodge Charger - I'd like a 9/10 one of those

Posted

Just twigged I never really wrapped up Friday's market jaunt, what with the forum server outage and then DIY funsies occupying most of my weekend.

On my final sweep before leaving for the day, I clocked that here were various additions to Alan's 50p tray, though nothing very exciting.

IMG_20231208_0932402.thumb.jpg.ea6ea20c67504170b7e9536d49de9a9c.jpg

Some minor purchases were made, though.

The main stall had emptied out the box of Days Gone and MoYs so we could all enjoy* them better.

IMG_20231208_1022222.thumb.jpg.5c0eda6b5ddbbf443d8951ea271d7478.jpg

No Crossleys to be seen today, though.

Some bonus Beetles had popped up from earlier, too:

IMG_20231208_1022312.thumb.jpg.358fcb7ff97ef5e953159c5d39717dc1.jpg

Not much to get in a flap about, really - mainly New Ray, Polistil, Maisto and Welly items plus a few far-eastern no-names.

But that was really the height of it. So, off I went...

Friday's haul, then:

IMG_20231209_0917102.thumb.jpg.f576c2d62e99f1774e11469a2aa79323.jpg

As well as those mentioned earlier, the 50p tray yielded up a Matchbox Jeep Cherokee in an unappealing soupy grey-green shade, which I suspect might be some sort of colour-changer; an Efsi Mercedes tractor unit which I don't believe I've ever encountered previously: a Hot Wheels custom Chevrolet El Camino with what appears to be two jet turbines fitted to the rear bed; and a weird Corgi Mercedes 500SL with a metal base but an all-plastic roof - not the same as the 'normal' mainline 500SL, which I seem to recall had an all-metal shell and a plastic base.

Discovering a silver Sierra Cosworth in Tesco prompted me to avail of a 2-for-£3.50 Clubcard deal, and take home a bonus pink Dodge D100 off-roader.

So - belatedly - Happy Friday, kids.

Even though it's Tuesday.

The Lamborghini with the sticker on is from the G3 Racing pack. Not worth a deal on its own but check out how much a sealed boxes set goes for! £5-600 if it’s mint.

I was idly browsing through eBay this lunchtime and encountered this charming piece of Chinese whimsy. 35 quid for a 1/64 model of something that doesn't exist seems a bit strong, but it's certainly a conversation starter*

It's modelled on the Samir Sadikhov render 'Van Defender'.  I think it's great that Master picked it up and are producing the models

I hope Hot Wheels do a model on his BRONCO VAN

If anyone comes across one of these on their travels please buy it/let me know (if it's reasonable). It's a snow covered Beetle made by Polistil. My Grandparents bought me it for Xmas one year in the early 80's (Grandad had one in the same colour) I know there is one on ebay for £40 odd quid but I'm not desperate lol. Condition not important.

Hot Wheels 8-pack mega offer in Sainsbury's tonight:

IMG_20231212_2139432.thumb.jpg.941d139b1dc572e2bd1763aad11a945f.jpg

Yes, that's one pack for £18, two packs for £15.

Just along the same shelf, I can't believe these unbranded Toyota light trucks ripped off from ancient Tomica castings are still being sold new.

IMG_20231212_2139492.thumb.jpg.f02370c56eac45b5491f0a22f9936a87.jpg

I also thought Auto City was a Mattel trademark for their acquired Corgi castings during the 1990s.

So much copyright infringement, so little time...

(So little scale consistency within the set, too)
