Cavmads New Wheelz...

One of the chaps over on BXC has bought a new car, sadly he has lost his user name and p/word for here, so untill he turns up again to answer questions etc, feel compelled to share with you his new wheels - which are truly shitetacular in every aspect from the slushbox to the seats.

Presenting Cavmads New Wheelz...

...time to reveal my latest set of wheels. Done a deal on a BMW 3 something or other which, whilst a decent car and eminently useable, is really not my bag at all.

Anyhow, here it is in all it's 1256ccs of autobox loveliness...

New (temporary) wheels fitted courtesy of the orignal alloys on my Mk4 Astra, these should be off again at the weekend to make way for the 'new' alloys...

Ace fun to drive. Desperately slow but it's a hoot getting used to a manual choke again!

Interior is the spit of my mum's old one (UGG 722W).CLASSI bet the slushbox/1256 lump is a pretty miserable combination.

Hmm. 1256cc with a 3-speed autobox. I suspect the minute hand of the clock travels round its dial quicker than the speedo needle. :? Nice looking car though - been a while since I saw a saloon one in the flesh, although there still seems to be quite a few hatchbacks round these parts.

Wahey, I'm here. Cheers Father Ted and admin for getting me in so quickly.Right, on to the car: it's desperately slow but ace fun to drive. Pulls away from junctions reasonably well once warmed up but after that the rate of speed is measured in days rather than miles  Rather unbelievably it's attracting smiles and nice comments wherever I go in it and people are letting me out of junctions which is a novelty. The obviously don't know I drive an old Merc as well!I love old cars like these because there's no pretences: it's shite and it knows it is but doesn't pretend to be anything else. Seems like light years since I struggled with manual chokes and that lovely whiff of petrol in the morning plus waiting hours for a big/long enough gap to get out of junctions and roundabouts.Plans for it not completely finalised yet: bodywork definately getting tidied up and the interior definately staying (I couldn't bring myself to change that!) but aside from that wheels getting changed very soon and I have pondered getting a bigger engine lobbed in. Currently torn between a 2.0 8V 130 lump, an Astra 1.4 SPi/MPi or, for a giggle, maybe an Isuzu 1.5TD engine from a Corsa or Nova.Anyone know of an easy old skool (Vauxhall) engine swap for these things? I'd imagine uprated brakes shouldn't be too much of a problem (HS/HS/R perhaps? ) but any Vaxuhall engine that'd drop straight in with the least amount of agro would be cool.Great forum by the way!

Lovely! You still got the 190E then?

Oh yes. Still, it'll possibly be 'properly' for sale soon if the truck goes. Even my missus like the Chevette and trust me she's EXTREMELY hard to please.

Brilliant car there - you should bring it to Billing Vauxhall Show next month! It would have attracted great deal of attention at PVS at the weekend too. Interior looks minted! There was a Kadett saloon on an s-plate there with the 'rat-look', which had a red-top under the bonnet. I couldnt see if the bulkhead was modified though. In my own opinion, I would get the original steellies banded then put it on its arse, keeping as-is otherwise! :D:D

Thanks!Banded steelies would be mega but I honestly reckon the wheels I have planned for it are almost as good.Billing would be a blast, a lot of my muckers on one Vauxhall forum are asking me to go. Trouble is if I do a) stopping over might be trickey and B) if I do I'll want to get absolutely shit faced and don't want to drive back the next day after a shed full of ale!
