ProgRocker Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Thought I should start a new thread as I have been changing the order of some of my pics on Photobucket. My old 'spotted' thread is a bit of a mess now. Let's start with some Jap Tat: (OK then - Korean. But it is based on a Japanese Mazda!Just caught thisas it drove out of Sainsbury's) Swedish blocks: Sporty spots: Brit Plop: Teutonic chod: Other shite:

ProgRocker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Been out shite spotting again today. Took a trip to Great Yarmouth seafront but chod was a bit thin on the ground. First spot of the day was this L reg Renault 5. Not shite but I do like these Pandas on alloys. Quite tempted to chop in my Nissan for one as I really don't need a 2.2 litre engined car.http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y34/Ar ... b12001.jpg Lithuanian registered BMW 5 series. Didn't notice what engine size it was (sorry!) Jolly nice Toyota Corolla 5 door hatch Back to Norwich, where I spotted this G reg Civic Shuttle Rover 414 SLi for sale on Dereham Rd, Norwich. £300 ono, bodywork was fairly tidy, a bit of laquer peel on the boot was all I noticed from the pavement side.
ProgRocker Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 One for Shep Shepherd - A Volvo 850 R. Shame to see it in such a filthy state. Funnily enough I passed by 2 other mid 90s Volvo 850 estates 20 minutes before I took this shot. Shite spec Cavalier Envoy. Bootlid indicates a 1.8i engine and ABS. This one had fairly plush seats that appear to come from an LS or a GLS. Perhaps not quite as poverty spec as it first appeared Did I read on this site that pretty much all late model Cavaliers had whatever stock items were left in the factory bolted onto them? Merc W123 estate, possibly 230TE or 280TE. Facelifted Rover 200 series R8. Rover still hadn't ditched the grey undersides by this point, it would appear. VW Scirocco starting to look a bit ratty.
CreepingJesus Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Did I read on this site that pretty much all late model Cavaliers had whatever stock items were left in the factory bolted onto them? Roughly speaking, yes. The spec of the late ones could be a bit 'approximate'. Seats were often better than expected, so to say. I like the patchy red Cav, further up; it needs some TLC the poor old thing. The Civic Shuttle's quite a find, too.
ProgRocker Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks, CreepingJesus. Spotted this Merc 230 CE today.
mattblack Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Hasn't that R8 just got a facelift grille fitted? (Leicester reg as well, BTW)
ProgRocker Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Hasn't that R8 just got a facelift grille fitted? (Leicester reg as well, BTW) I think you are right there mattblack. Walked past the Volvo 850R estate once again. Glad to say that it has been washed since the last time I saw it.

I like the patchy red Cav, further up; it needs some TLC the poor old thing. That horrific blue thing is also an auto; the 'Classic' was the Envoy with extra bits, but generally speaking the run out models were a mishmash of what was left. CreepingJesus Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Dunno; the blue one looks quite 'together' if you know what I mean. Looked after, but used. It's got the right wheeltrims after all, and I thought they were just for adorning hedges! Didn't the 'Classic' have a nice fancy font 'script' type badge on the back that told your neighbours you'd arrived? Who could possibly say no to that? Not me. Last Mk3 I had was a right old shed of a thing, and the itch for another one's starting to develop. One of those two would do nicely. Then I could maybe own one last one that wouldn't let the side down. Also; is it just me, or does the Elan above the red Cav look a little bit sad? It can come and live at CJ towers too, then...
ChinaTom Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'm sure (hope) that blue Merc estate is a diesel as I followed it in Norwich last week and the thick black smoke coupled with the half decent pace said 300D to me.
ProgRocker Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 ^ I'm sure that you're right about the Merc, ChinaTom. CreepingJesus Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 That'll be a Fourteen. I'm pretty sure they had the hand throttle on the column, and the pre-selector gearbox. According to my dad, the pre-selector could be a right handful, with a mind of its' own if it wasn't set up right. Which the ones he drove weren't, 'cos they were being flogged to death as taxis, in the mid-60's.
pocket.calculator Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I absolutely love W123s of all flavours. Nice set of spots.

HillmanImp Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Those Hyundai Coupe's are ace. Whats the deal with them? Are they difficult to insure? Shirey any self respecting 20 something would prefer one of them to a Fiesta?
ProgRocker Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Those Hyundai Coupe's are ace. Whats the deal with them? Are they difficult to insure? Shirey any self respecting 20 something would prefer one of them to a Fiesta? I like them too. I guess insurance must be expensive on these. Shipping any replacement parts from South Korea was never going to be cheap. Hyundai filled a void in the sports car market left open when Ford halted production of the Capri in 1986/7. Both had a decent range of engines from 1.6, 2.0 and a 2.7-3.0 V6 (Hyundai 2.7 V6 on the much tidier looking 2003 model).
