Isn't wuvvum selling his Ligier?

Are we talking brand new? Is there a limit to age/budget/whatever?

I must admit, I'm getting a little peeved with the number of 'recommendation' threads on here at the moment. We're on about buying a car for someone who has not the least interest in cars. I would have thought that anything small and with an automatic gearbox would do!

Agree. Sign up to Honest John or summert.

I am indeed selling the Ligier. How much do you dislike your mate's mum?

I can see Bruce_Wobbelaar's point to be fair - all of the cars in your shortlist are moderns and none really qualify as "shite" - so realistically there is probably going to be a relatively limited depth of interest in, and knowledge of, these cars on here.

Just a thought but maybe a Toyota Yaris, possibly a Verso seem to be easy to live with.

K11 Micra, or the newer K12.

The Auto Corsa seemed a bit under geared when I drove one, fine for town but you were crying out for a lower set of revs on the motorway.

Fiesta with the CVT box or perhaps a DAF33.

Pram/toy ejection scenario...? :?

So it would appear

I hope he hasn't done one, good lad is our Bob.

Oh for God's sake. I would hate to see some of these people who keep storming off get angry about something that matters. Like something in real life, for example.

I saw what had happened, and it would seem that some of the responses are quite rude..... considering they are from people who accused ME of being a bully.... well lesson learned I think.. Don't ask a normal question of people whose opinions you trust(ed). Glad I wasn't part of it, or my card would have been marked. Again. Still there's two faced people everywhere in life.

Like I had told to me. If you have nothing positive to add to the thread, shut the fuck up. Well done chaps, tag team eviction is the new sport, and I had nothing to do with it! I hope he comes back and gets a well deserved apology.

I'm not apologising to anyone, though I'm saddened that Bob's decided to quit. He was a bit unfortunate to start his thread when this place was already filling up with 'recommendation' threads and he copped some negativity for it. Not really the end of the world.

Generally though, the recommendation threads do get tedious. I'm as guilty as anyone of starting them in the past. The problem with them is that suggestions will come flying in and the only thing you can guarantee about the car that actually gets purchased is that it wasn't one of the suggestions. That's why I've personally stopped starting threads like that. Buying shite is more about leaping on something that comes along at the right time than heading out with anything too specific in mind.

I can't resist an input. I lurk here (and on other forums) because the internet is a place where people too often forget their manners. I can't be bothered contributing much because I know people are intolerant of other opinions especially on the 'net. Speaking of opinions - it is mine that the community has slowly deteriorated here.

Still, there are bigger things going on in the world

Not sure I agree to be honest. This place had some serious hiccups last year, but seems to have settled down of late. Epic threads of win help of course, with some serious shite-saving demonstrations already this year.

I don't think the internet is any worse than a pub for airing opinions either. Whenever and where-ever you express an opinion, there's a chance that it'll go down badly with someone else. It's just that on the internet, there's a record of it, while a conversation in a pub is usually forgotten the morning after.
